With the series tied at one game apiece, the shifts to Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies continue fighting for the title.

The Astros are sending righty Lance McCullers Jr to the mound as the Phillies are countering with right-hander Noah Syndergaard. Let’s see below the game preview for your favorite bets.

Analysis Game 3 Astros vs. Phillies

Houston Astros Content

The Houston Astros lineup has been doing extremely well as they are third in the playoffs with a .721 team OPS while scoring 4.56 runs per game thus far.

Third baseman Alex Bregman has been doing pretty well as he is 2-for-8 with a homer, two RBI, and two runs scored through the first two games of the World Series. The Astros can steal this game on the road and get back the advantage.

Lance McCullers Jr will be on the mound for this game and is 0-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts this postseason. He has not pitched since October 23 in the ALCS as he threw five innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on eight hits with a hit by pitch, a walk, and six strikeouts. They need McCullers to bounce back and keep runs off the board against a tough lineup.

Philadelphia Phillies Content

The Philadelphia Phillies have been doing extremely well this postseason, as they are second in the playoffs with a .729 team OPS while averaging five runs per game. They have a lot of power behind 17 home runs through 13 games as well.

Right fielder Nick Castellanos needs to improve as he is just 2-for-9 with a double, one RBI, and two runs scored through the first two World Series games. This team is going to have the electricity of the crowd to feed off of and should be in a decent spot here.

Noah Syndergaard will be on the hill for the Phils here and is 0-0 with a 1.69 ERA in three games (one start) and has thrown 5.1 innings over those games, so he may not be able to give too much length here.

He pitched on October 22 out of the bullpen in the NLCS against the San Diego Padres and threw 1.1 scoreless innings where he allowed two hits with zero walks or strikeouts.

Syndergaard is essentially going to play an opener role in this game, and it should be interesting to see how Rob Thomson deploys his bullpen.

What Are the Odds?

According to the MyBookie Sportsbook, the Houston Astros are currently favored with -131 odds to win this game, while the Philadelphia Phillies are +108 to win. The over/under is sitting at eight total runs, with the under being slightly favored as well.

Who Will Win?

I did not love this Phillies bullpen coming into the series, but they have combined for 8.2 scoreless innings, and that is a huge plus as they are going to essentially have Noah Syndergaard as an opener in this matchup.

Lance McCullers Jr is a hittable pitcher, as the Yankees’ offense, which was terrible this postseason, put up four runs against him in his last start. The Philadelphia crowd is going to be electric so go with the Philadelphia Phillies to win at home in Game 3 on Halloween.
