As we mentioned earlier, the Dodgers went through a rough patch towards the end of the season, although they did manage to pull things together to go 8-2 in their last 10 games. The one thing that the Dodgers are going to need to avoid in this series is getting pulled into a shootout with the Diamondbacks, as that will be the fastest road to defeat. The Dodgers were well off the pace set by Arizona in runs scored in the regular season, but they are a much better defensive team with better pitching than their opponent.
They will hand the ball to Clayton Kershaw (18-4, 2.31 ERA) to get this series started, and that usually means a win for the Dodgers. Kershaw took a pair of losses in October, but prior to that, you need to go back to May to find the last time that the Dodgers lost a game he started. LA had 57 wins at home in the regular season, and have turned Dodger Stadium into something of a fortress.
