Chicago is hoping for a great performance from veteran right-hander Kyle Hendricks although he got touched up for four runs on a whopping nine hits in just four innings against Washington in Game 5 of their NLDS series the previous round. Hendricks however, was phenomenal in Game 1 of Chicago’s NLDS win over the Nationals, pitching seven shutout innings and giving up two hits while striking out six. “These are our guys, and I have a lot of faith in our guys,” Maddon said. “I have to keep putting them out there in the situations they’re supposed to be in, and you believe it’s going to work out right. “If you believe it, you have a much better chance of it occurring.”
The defending World Series champs say they won’t roll over easily against the Dodgers, if at all.
“I know we’ll be fine,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said after the game Sunday. “We’ll get a good day’s rest tomorrow. We’ll come out and play our game. On Tuesday we’ve got Kyle going, which is good for us. They have a good pitcher also. But, listen, we lost two tough games here, very difficult games. I thought we represented ourselves well.”
