Dodgers vs Rockies MLB Week 13 Odds & Game Analysis

Written by on June 27, 2019

When you think about it, playing 162 games in a single season is a little mind-boggling. There is an awful lot that can go wrong with a season as long as that, which is why winning 60% of your games is very often more than enough to get a team into the postseason and on the path to a World Series. With that in mind, it’s also very tough for a team to start the season strong and maintain that level of play from start to finish. There are going to be injuries and slumps in form that can slow down a season without totally derailing it. When a team out in front does hit a rough patch, it helps when the other teams in the division are all struggling at the same time.

We are at the midway point in the season and still waiting for the LA Dodgers to have that poor run of form. In the meantime, the other teams in the West are doing little to close the double-digit lead that the Dodgers have at the top. The Rockies will try to cut into that lead when they host LA for a big weekend series. LA is favored by 1 ½, with the run total set at 11 ½.

Dodgers vs Rockies MLB Week 13 Odds & Game Analysis

Why bet on the LA Dodgers?

Like we said in the opening of this piece, the Dodgers have been about as consistent as it gets through the first half of the season. The Dodgers have stormed out to a 55-27 record in the first half, which has allowed them to open up a 12-game lead on the chasing pack in the West, with the Colorado Rockies being the team sitting in second. LA did have a little bit of a slip-up, losing 2 of 3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this week, dropping the Dodgers to 21-18 on the road this season.

There is a reason to believe that they can get back to winning quite quickly here, as the Dodgers have gone 6-0 in previous games with the Rockies this season. Against the spread, LA is 15-22 ATS as a road favorite. It will be Walker Buehler (8-1, 2.96 ERA) who gets the start.

Why bet on the Colorado Rockies?

The Colorado Rockies have overcome a brutal start to the season, going from well of the pace to 4 games over .500 at 42-38 on the season. While their turnaround has been great, they are not really doing enough right now to close that 12-game gap, going 5-5 SU in their last 10 games.

On the plus side of things, Colorado has become very tough to beat in their own ballpark of late and are now 22-15 in home games this season. That said, they have not performed well against the spread there, going 4-6 ATS as a home dog, although they are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games overall. It will be Peter Lambert (2-0, 5.85 ERA) who starts for the Rockies.

When Walker Buehler is on the mound, the Dodgers tend to come away with the win, which is also something that they have made a habit of doing versus Colorado this season. I am on the Dodgers to win and cover in this one.
