The Toronto Blue Jays could welcome back a key piece of their lineup on Wednesday night in an interleague matchup at the Atlanta Braves, as they end their 3 game series. The Jays, however, will lose the designated hitter with the game in the National League park. Before this series, the Blue Jays took on the Seattle Mariners in a 4 game series, sweeping every single game. For the Braves, it was also a pretty good weekend as well. They visited the Miami Marlins, taking the series at 2-1. So, who will be the MLB betting favorite for this final matchup? Let’s find out.

Why Bet On Toronto?

There’s a good chance that Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will return from the disabled list for this game. Tulo has been out since April 22 with a strained right hamstring. The Blue Jays’ offense could use Tulo’s bat as they rank 24th in batting average (.236) and 23rd in runs scored (151). Manager John Gibbons also said third baseman Josh Donaldson should be back in the lineup “by the weekend.” Donaldson has not played since April 13 due to a calf injury. In nine games prior to going on the disabled list Donaldson was hitting .310 with two home runs and four RBIs. The Blue Jays got starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez back from recurring blister issues Sunday, and he allowed just one unearned run in five innings. The team has place OF/1B Steve Pearce on the 10-day disabled list with a right calf strain. Pearce suffered the injury during Sunday’s game against the Mariners. It’s unclear how much time he’ll need to miss. Pearce had doubled in his lone at-bat before departing on Sunday and is now hitting .205/.256/.373 on the season. Leonel Campos will return from the minors to replace him on the active roster. It’s former reliever Joe Biagini (1-1, 2.28) on the mound. Biagini hasn’t walked any of the past 82 batters he has faced, and in his two starts since joining the Blue Jays’ rotation, he has seven strikeouts and 13 ground-ball outs in nine innings’ work. He threw 68 pitches vs. Seattle last time out and should be in the range of 90 for this start. He hasn’t allowed an earned run in nine innings as a starter. Biagini has never faced the Braves.

Why Bet On Atlanta?

These two clubs are meeting for the first time since 2015, when they split six games in a pair of three-game series. The Braves went 2-1 at Rogers Centre and 1-2 at Turner Field. Braves catchers lead the majors with a .403 on-base pct., while their .289 batting average ranks sixth in the majors and their 20 RBIs ranks T7th. Tyler Flowers’ .470 on-base percentage ranks second in the majors among players with at least 80 plate appearances. Three of Kurt Suzuki’s eight RBI this season have either tied the game or put the Braves ahead. Freddie Freeman is ranked among the top 10 in the National League in most offensive categories, including runs (T3rd – 30), batting average (5th – .344), home runs (T3rd – 12), on-base percentage (2nd -.461) and slugging percentage (3rd – .736). The Braves’ pitching rotation this season has struggled to say the least and has looked far from improved in the early going. Trading for Jaime Garcia as well the new look Braves rotation was supposed to improve behind Julio Teheran but thus far has if anything taken a step back. If the Braves opt to make their rotation younger soon, it would be surprising if Sean Newcomb isn’t the first name that they call up. Matt Wisler is yet to get it together in Triple-A and Aaron Blair has had his struggles as well. It’s Mike Foltynewicz here. He spun six innings of one-run ball in an 8-4 victory over the Marlins on Friday. After starting the year 0-4, he’s finally in the win column. Foltynewicz struck out four and walked none in the win. He gave up six hits, with the only run scoring on a solo bomb from Justin Bour in the fourth inning. It was an encouraging bounceback performance after Folty was rocked for seven runs over four innings last time out. He’ll bring a 4.04 ERA into this start.

Toronto at Atlanta MLB Betting Pick: Toronto Blue Jays

The Jays are finally playing good baseball and should welcome back Tulo.
