Why Bet on Oakland (10-9)

After splitting the first two games of the series against Toronto, A’s lost the third game, handing the Jays a 2-1 series win. In the quest for a win over Detroit, the A’s will be giving the ball to Rich Hill (3.32 ERA, 2-2). In his last outing, Hill was solid on the hill, leading Oakland to a 7-3 win at the New York Yankees, which should motivate him for another strong road game at Detroit. Offensively, Jed Lowrie (19 hits with 10 RBI) Josh Reddick (16 hits with 11 RBI and four homers) and power hitter Marcus Semien will be the players to watch. 

Why Bet on Detroit (8-9)

Like the A’s, the Detroit Tigers lost their weekend series against the Cleveland Indians, losing by a combined score of 18-5 in the sweep by Cleveland. After such a dismaying home performance, Detroit would love nothing more than a win and starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey will be the player to lead the team. Pelfrey is winless in his three starts this year and sports an ERA of 3.68, so it won’t be easy for the Tigers to get a victory on Tuesday. There is however hope in the fact that Detroit has some of the best heavy hitters in the league, led by Ian Kinsler (25 hits, 15 runs and 12 RBI), Miguel Cabrera (13 hits and seven runs) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (six homers and 15 RBI).
