NLCS Odds: Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres

Written by on October 17, 2022

Can you believe it? We are already in the Championship Series in MLB, and October baseball has been everything you could have dreamed it to be. Nobody predicted the Philadelphia Phillies to battle the San Diego Padres in the NLCS, We bring you the MLB betting odds.

The underdog story has treated these two organizations very well thus far, but it is time to change that narrative. On Tuesday night, the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds from the NL are facing off to see who represents the league at the World Series. After each winning a best-of-three and best-of-five series, they now have to take home four wins to advance to the World Series.

Bats Are Hot in Philadelphia

We saw the Philadelphia Phillies end the miracle season of the veteran-led St. Louis Cardinals. Everybody thought that was the peak of their run. There was no chance the Phillies could eliminate the Atlanta Braves, who were one of the hottest teams in MLB, right? Or so we thought, as Philadelphia’s offense flipped a switch, and they beat the Braves in four games

As the No. 6 seed in the NL, the Phillies have not had the home-field advantage the entire postseason, and that will remain the same in the NLCS. After finishing the season below .500 on the road in the regular season, the Phillies are 4-1 away from home in the playoffs. The Phillies entered the playoffs with the worst record of all teams in the postseason against teams over .500, but anything can happen in October. After allowing four runs in their last three games, the pitching in Philadelphia is on a different level, and their bats are hot as can be.

Philadelphia have been decent when it comes to covering the spread with a record of 83-79 in the regular season. Their overall over/under in the regular season was 79-75-7. Against the spread in the playoffs, the Phillies are 4-1 after scoring 17 runs in their last two games.

Home Field Advantage in San Diego

The 2022 MLB season has been filled with many fun storylines, and that remains the same as the San Diego Padres have a home-field advantage in the NLCS. San Diego has turned into a baseball town, and Petco Park is going to be rocking.

Yu Darvish is set to represent the Padres on the mound in game one. He will be on six days of rest and looks to continue cooking in the playoffs. In two games this season against the Philadelphia Phillies, Darvish has a 2.08 ERA allowing three runs through 13.0 innings. During the last 30 days, opponents only hit .184 against the Japanese pitcher.

Covering the spread has not been easy for the Padres in the regular season, but as we learned with the Phillies, none of that matters in October. Most people thought the NLDS was over when the Los Angeles Dodgers took game one, but the Padres bounced back and won three straight. Throughout the postseason, the games between the Padres have been low scoring, which is no surprise as the under hit more times than the over did in the 162-game season.

Betting Tips for Game One

Check MyBookie for all the latest odds for game one of the NLCS between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres. There are many different betting options for these two cinderella stories.

The Phillies of the NL East and the Padres of the NL West have only faced off seven times this season. Philadelphia won their last four-game series taking three games. San Diego took the first three-game series winning two of them. The Phillies hold a slight 4-3 lead in the series, but they have not faced off since late June.

With Yu Darvish on the mound, you cannot count on the Phillies’ offense to remain hot. Expect a low-scoring game and a great pitching battle between the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds.
