Top MLB Series Of The Week (September 5th to 11th)

Written by on September 5, 2016

There are now just 4 weeks remaining in the MLB regular season, and it’s now reaching do or die time for many teams. While a couple of the divisions appear to be set in stone in terms of winners, there are others that are still pretty wide open. Those are the divisions that could shape what the playoffs will look like once they get underway in October. There are a lot of important series coming up this week, and we may even see a few more teams slip out of postseason contention once all is said and done. Let’s take a look at what are likely to be the top MLB series of the week, and be sure to check back in regularly to keep up to date with the betting odds on each of these.

A Closer Look At The Top MLB Series Of The Week (September 5th to 11th)

Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees – Sept 5-7

The AL East is one of the divisions that is wide open at the moment. The Toronto Blue Jays have a slender 1-game lead over the Red Sox, but the Orioles and Yankees are still in the hunt too. For the Yankees, their best shot may be a Wild Card spot, as they are currently 6.5 games back of the Jays. That might change dramatically if they can somehow find a way to get a sweep here. If they don’t win this series, the outlook may be bleak, while the Blue Jays might just put a stranglehold on a playoff spot.

Houston Astros at Cleveland Indians – Sept 5-7

The Cleveland Indians come into this week on another hot streak, having won 6 straight games, and it is beginning to look as though they are not going to give up their lead in the AL Central. The Houston Astros are unlikely to erase a 9.5-game deficit in the West, but they are playing great ball right now, and are now within 2 games of a Wild Card spot. This is a series with playoff implications, and it also features a pair of teams who are playing some great stuff right now. This is definitely one to watch and wager on.

Baltimore Orioles at Detroit Tigers – Sept 9-11

The Baltimore Orioles are now 3 games back of the Blue Jays in the AL East, but they are in prime position for a Wild Card spot right now. The team that is sitting right behind them in that race is the Detroit Tigers, so it goes without saying that this is a huge series. The Orioles could still conceivable win the division, but the Tigers are probably depending on that Wild Card to get on. This could be a massive series, so be sure to get those wagers in.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Miami Marlins – Sept 9-11

The Dodgers have opened up a 3-game lead on the San Francisco Giants in the NL West, and are now looking to put the division away. They will go up against a very stubborn Miami Marlins team this coming weekend. The Marlins have been one of the surprises of the season, and while they are still hanging around in the Wild Card race, they need to start making a move now if they have any hope of closing the 4-game gap there.
