MMA Betting for 42th Week of 2023: UFC 294

MMA Events during this week: UFC 294. This is one of those weird weeks in the world of MMA, where there is very little going on. While we usually have 3 or 4 different events to look forward to, this week, we have just one coming our way. | MMA Odds | MyBookie Sportsbook | MMA Week: Monday, 0ctober 16th – Sunday, October 22th, 2023

On a positive note, the one event that is coming our way is a good one, with the UFC delivering a big night that includes a title fight at the top of the main card. On Mondays, we usually just tell you about the upcoming events, listing the fights on each of those cards without going into too much detail. With just one event coming this week, we will be able to go into more detail about the fights on the UFC 294 main card, so let’s go ahead and do that to consider in your UFC betting.

UFC 294

When: Saturday at 10 AM EST
Where: Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
TV / Streaming: Pay Per View, Prelims: ESPN+

Please take note of the start time for this one, as it’s a whole lot earlier than we are used to. This event is taking place in the United Arab Emirates, which explains why we have an MMA event going on a Saturday morning. With that in mind, lets get to the bouts:

Said Nurmagomedov Vs Muin Gafurov

The main card opens with a Bantamweight bout and a pair of fighters coming off a loss. Nurmagomedov saw a 4-fight win streak come to an end with a loss last time out, but he is still an impressive 15-3. Gafurov saw his time in the UFC start with a loss, so he will be looking for a win that will improve his 18-5 record.

Ikram Aliskerov Vs Warlley Alves

Next up is a Middleweight bout that appears to be a little one-sided. Aliskerov is in as the heavy favorite, winning each of his last 6 fights to move to 14-1 overall, although he has fought in the UFC just once. Alves has not been as good of late, losing 2 in a row and 4 of his last 5 to see his record fall to 14-6.

Magomed Ankalaev Vs Johnny Walker

Next up is what looks to be a very good Light Heavyweight bout. Ankalaev saw an 8-fight win streak come to an end last time out, although that one was a draw as opposed to a loss, with his record now at 18-1-1. Walker appears to have snapped out of a rough patch of form and comes into this one with 2 straight wins.

Kamaru Usman Vs Khamzat Chimaev

The co-main event of the night is a good one, although you have to wonder if things are about to get worse for Usman, who has lost each of his last 2 fights to see his record fall to a still impressive 20-3. Chimaev is rising fast in the Middleweight ranks as he looks to maintain his unbeaten record, which now stands at 12-0.

Islam Makhachev Vs Alexander Volkanovski

We close the night out with a rematch and a battle for the Lightweight Championship. Makhachaev is the defending champion and winner of 12 straight fights, which includes a decision win over Volkanovski last time out. Volkanovski earned another crack at the champion with that last showing, where he dropped to 26-2 overall with the loss.
