NASCAR Cup Series Betting Odds for Food City Dirt Race

Written by on April 7, 2023

We are 7 races into the new Cup Series season and we have yet to see one driver take control of the standings. The wins have been spread out across several different drivers and there really is very little separating the top 8 drivers. In fact, the gap between #1 and #8 right now is just 48 points. Things might get tighter still this weekend, as we have a very different race that not every driver is going to take to. Yes, it’s time for the dirt race at Bristol, which becomes a bit of a crap shoot when trying to pick who will win. This is not a familiar surface for most drivers in the Cup Series, or at least one they haven’t raced on regularly in quite some time. With that in mind, perhaps we can expect a surprise on Sunday. For now, let’s take a look at some of the bookie’s NASCAR betting favorites.

NASCAR Cup Series: Food City Dirt Race

Kyle Larson (+510)

It has been a bit of a disappointing start to the season for Larson, who won the Cup Series Championship in 2021, but he may just have broken out of that early slump with his win last weekend. He did not have a particularly good run on the dirt in his championship winning season, but he had a return to form at Bristol last season, finishing 4th in this corresponding race. Larson has made a habit of stringing together wins, and while it is tough to win back-to-back, he has to be considered a real threat here.

Tyler Reddick (+580)

The nature of this race means that you are going to see drivers listed at odds that are shorter than you might expect. Tyler Reddick certainly fits the bill, thanks in large part to his experience on dirt. He is a driver that seems to thrive on these one-off type races, as his lone win this season came on a road course at the Circuit of the Americas. He has also done well in this particular race, finishing 2nd on the Bristol dirt last year and 7th the year before that. With that information, it’s easy to see why the bookies like him this weekend.

Christopher Bell (+630)

Last season was very much a breakout year for Bell, who made it all the way to the final four before finishing 3rd overall in the Cup Series standings. While he has yet to pick up a win this season, Bell has been close on several occasions, finishing in the top 5 in 4 of 7 races this season. Will this be the weekend when he breaks that goose egg? I certainly think he can be in the mix given that he finished 7th on the Bristol dirt last season. I’d definitely have him in the top 5 on Sunday.

Chase Briscoe (+900)

This is the 3rd full season in the Cup Series for Briscoe, and to this point, he only has 1 win to his name. He has also only landed in the top 10 once in 7 races this season, which makes it a little surprising that the bookies have him in at these odds. You also have to consider that he hasn’t really performed well in 2 races on the Bristol dirt, so I would have a tough time wagering on him this weekend.
