The NASCAR season is only 2 weeks old, but we have already seen a couple of surprises that might suggest we are in for a very exciting season. During the offseason, we saw some drivers make moves to different series, which has shaken things up quite dramatically. Austin Cindric started life in the Cup Series with a win at the Daytona 500 and now sits atop the driver standings, while Austin Hill got off to a winning start in the Xfinity Series. When guys move on, it opens up spots and opportunities in the series they left, so can we expect to see some surprises in the Truck Series? We are only 1 race into the season there, but race #2 comes this weekend in Las Vegas. Let’s take a look at the favorites there so you can all set to bet against NASCAR Truck Series Odds.
NASCAR Truck Series Betting Preview for Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 Race
Kyle Busch (-135)
I’ve been watching and wagering on sports long enough to understand that there is really no such thing as an absolute lock. Yes, there are some wagers we all feel better about than others, but there are zero guarantees. The closest we get to that in NASCAR is when Kyle Busch decides to race in the Truck Series, which only happens sparingly. If we look back at the last 3 seasons, he has raced 15 times in this series and won 10 of those races. In fact, he has only been outside the top 2 in one of those races, which tells you all you need to know about his chances of winning this weekend.
John H. Nemechek (+450)
Through the first half of last season, it looked as though Nemechek might be on course to win the Truck Series Championship, picking up 5 wins. It all fell apart in the second half of the season, and while he did make it to the final four in the playoffs, he ended up finishing 3rd overall in the NASCAR Trucks Series standings. There is a sense that he is coming into this season with some unfinished business to attend to, although he did not get off to a great start in the opening race. Still, Nemechek won in Vegas last season, so he is likely to be the biggest threat to Busch.
Chandler Smith (+1400)
At just 19 years of age, it already looks as though Chandler Smith has a bright future ahead of him in the sport. He ended up finishing 8th overall last season, but he ended 2021 on a high, winning the final race of the season in Phoenix to take his first checkered flag in the Truck Series. He comes in with some pretty high expectations this year, so we are expecting better than what he delivered at Daytona to start the season. He had 2 runs at Las Vegas last season, neither of which were particularly great, so definitely a longshot this weekend.
Ben Rhodes (+1600)
Rhodes started last season with back-to-back wins, and while he never won another race after that, he was consistently good all year and did enough to walk away with the Truck Series Championship. It looks like he might be in the mood to repeat this season after a 2nd place run at Daytona in Week 1. In his 2 runs at Las Vegas last season, he finished 10th and 2nd, respectively, so expect him to be among the leaders this weekend.
