Cleveland Cavaliers Second Round Playoff Betting Preview

The Cleveland Cavaliers made quick work of the Detroit Pistons in Round 1. The Cavaliers scored 100+ in all four games to give themselves a chance to rest heading into Round 2. Cleveland is awaiting the winner of the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks. Those are two teams the Cleveland Cavaliers match up well with as NBA odds fans might recall. Cleveland is the defending Eastern Conference Champions, and have won 57 games during the regular season. The Cavaliers have three of the top players on the court in most games. LeBron James, a multiple time Most Valuable Player hopes to keep his point guard Kyrie Irving and power forward Kevin Love healthy throughout the postseason, which would be a change from a season ago.

The Cavaliers won the Central Division by 12 games over the Pistons, and won the Eastern Conference by a single game over the Raptors. Down the stretch Tyronn Lue, who took over for David Blatt mid-season sat several regulars, which prevented the Cavaliers from winning 60 games. LeBron James led by team with 25+ points per game during the regular season, but Kyrie Irving has been the stud in postseason. The point guard that played his college basketball at Duke is scoring 27.5 points per game, and also dishing out 5 assists per game. He will go up against either Jeff Teague of the Atlanta Hawks or Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics. Kevin Love has also put forth a nice postseason for Cleveland. Love, who came from Minnesota before the start of last season, for Andrew Wiggins is scoring 18.8 points per game, and also grabbing 12 rebounds per game. Love enjoys shooting from the perimeter, but Cleveland will need his size in this series against either the Celtics or the Hawks. Tristan Thompson has moved to the center spot, and played 28.3 minutes per game in the postseason. Of course, LeBron is still LeBron, scoring 22.8 points per game, and grabbing 9 rebounds per game in the postseason thus far.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are far and away the best team in the Eastern Conference. There is no coincidence the remaining three series in the Eastern Conference are tight. In fact, put those 6 teams in a hat, and pick one out, and that will be the team that gets a shot at the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. It’s strange to say, but Cleveland, if healthy, may not lose a game during the entire Eastern Conference playoffs. The Cavaliers need to stay focused, and they will win this series, regardless of whether it’s the Atlanta Hawks or the Boston Celtics.
