Heat star Jimmy Butler struggled in Miami’s 109-107 OT loss in Game 1. Butler was just 4-for-22 from the field for 17 points but did add 10 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and one block in 46 minutes. The Heat would not have been in overtime without Butler, as his layup as time expired pushed the game into an extra period.

Bam Adebayo had just nine points to go with 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals across 41 minutes. He often found himself smothered by Brook Lopez and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Duncan Robison had a nice game in scoring 24 points on seven made three-pointers along with two rebounds and two assists. With Butler and Adebayo combining to shoot 8-of-37 from the field, and Kendrick Nunn going 4-of-10, the Heat needed others to step forward offensively to have a shot at stealing Game 1. Robinson was 7-for-13 from deep. Those seven makes tied a franchise record.

He and Goran Dragic (25/2/1/1 with five 3-pointers) to score 49 of the Heat’s 107 points. Dragic came up big at every pivotal moment of this game, including a game-tying three-pointer in the game’s closing seconds.

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished Saturday’s win over the Heat with 26 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and three steals in 45 minutes. Those numbers look good but the Greek Freak did struggle at times, he failed to make a single shot outside of the restricted area while also committing six turnovers. The reigning two-time MVP appeared to injure his left elbow while fighting through a screen, but the Bucks left him in the game despite his asking to check out. Following a timeout Antetokounmpo was back on the court, but with his left arm in a shooting sleeve. Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez were very effective defensively in limiting Bam Adebayo, however.

After losing 4-1 to the Heat in the playoffs last season, Holiday’s addition is a massive upgrade from last year’s roster. Holiday was very good defensively and finished at a team-best +10. His biggest defensive play was rejecting a Jimmy Butler jumper as time expired in overtime to preserve the win. Fellow guard Donte DiVincenzo shot just 1-of-5 from the field, finishing with three points, 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 37 minutes.
