Season Series

Indiana won its first two matchups against Washington this season at home. The Pacers have lost three of their last four road games at Washington. The last meeting was Dec. 23 and Indiana prevailed 105-89. Myles Turner had 18 points and a career-high 17 rebounds/ The Wizards were coming off a triple-overtime win over Phoenix in Washington the previous night. They shot a season-low 36.8 percent. Markieff Morris led the Wizards with 16 points off the bench. The Wizards finished with 22 turnovers.

Why Bet on Indiana?

Victor Oladipo underwent season-ending surgery for the ruptured quad tendon in his right knee on Monday. The Pacers announced that Oladipo is expected to make a full recovery, but did not provide a timetable. His season will conclude with final averages of 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.7 steals, 2.1 triples and 2.3 turnovers on 42.3% shooting. Just a terrible loss for the Pacers.

The Pacers were slaughtered at home by the rampaging Warriors on Monday 132-100. Steph Curry made his first eight shots and his first six 3-pointers, including a demoralizing 27-foot buzzer-beater that gave the Warriors a 69-48 halftime lead. The Warriors had 39 assists on the final leg of a five-game road trip without Draymond Green, who rested, and against the league’s No. 1 scoring defense.

Myles Turner notched 16 points on 7-of-12 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line in the loss. He led the Pacers in points and was second in shot attempts, something that should happen quite often with Oladipo out for the season. Turner topped off his line with six rebounds, one assist, two steals, and two blocks.

Aaron Holiday scored 12 points with four assists, two rebounds, and four triples in 22 minutes vs. the Warriors on Monday. The Pacer started Edmond Sumner in place of Tyreke Evans (back), but he didn’t help himself with a 1-of-10 shooting line in 28 minutes.

Evans has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game vs. the Wizards so Sumner likely starts again despite the horrible game Monday. Pacers head coach Nate McMillan said Sumner could get a handful of minutes in certain matchups going forward. “There’ll be some nights that we may look to go to him off the bench,” McMillan said. “There are some nights where we can look at going with Ed off the bench instead of Aaron [Holiday] because it does give us more length.” Sumner has been impressive in the G-League this year.

Why Bet on Washington?

The disadvantage for Washington in that it was in Cleveland on Tuesday, although the Cavs are awful. Still, having to travel back overnight doesn’t help matters. Dwight Howard (back) will remain on the sidelines through the All-Star break. D12 was originally given a 2-3 month timetable, and Wednesday will mark the completion of the second month. Thomas Bryant will continue to start in his absence.

Washington currently averages 112.8 points per game, the most points per game average since the 1978-79 season (114.9). The Wizards have scored 65 points in a half 12 times this season (first half: eight/ second half: four). Washington has scored 130+ points in five games this season, the most 130+ point games in a season since 1989-90 (5).

Each month of this season, Beal has improved his points per game and assists numbers and is averaging his highest 3PT % of the season in January (40.0%). Beal has totaled 40 blocks this season, the second most in the NBA for guards, and is one of four EC guards to have totaled 225 rebounds thus far.
