Tournament Bracket Rundown | March Madness Betting Picks

(13) Vermont Catamounts vs (4) Arkansas Razorbacks (-6)

While Vermont is a trendy pick to upset the Razorbacks, we’re not ready to go there. Eric Musselman has rebuilt the Arkansas program into one of the top programs in the country. He has brought the program back to the days of Nolan Richardson.

Arkansas is one of the most athletic teams in the country, and JD Notae is a scoring machine. Arkansas has a ton of length, and they’re one of the top defensive teams in the country.

While the Vermont Catamounts have had a tremendous season and have won a lot of games, they haven’t seen anyone like Arkansas. Vermont plays a very slow, deliberate style of offense. They’re very efficient on the offensive end, and they don’t turn the ball over very often.

The oddsmakers think that Vermont can keep up with Arkansas, as they’ve only made the Razorbacks a six-point favorite in this one. While we don’t think that Arkansas will blow them out, we do think that they will win this one. Arkansas wins this one by ten and advances.

(14) Montana State Bobcats vs (3) Texas Tech Red Raiders (-16)

The Montana State Bobcats make their return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 25 years. While it should be an accomplishment to celebrate, there’s not much time to party, as they’ll run into one of the best defenses in college basketball in the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders hold their opponents to just over 60 points per game with their “no middle” defense. This defense doesn’t allow for ball reversal, and it can slow down an offense quickly. Texas Tech also forces their opponents to turn the ball over at least once in every four offensive possessions.

While the Bobcats have had a season to remember, it’s going to be over soon. Montana State will give a valiant effort to keep it close, but we see Texas Tech winning this one by 20 points.

(13) South Dakota State Jackrabbits vs (4) Providence Friars(-2.5)

South Dakota State is a top upset pick, as the Jackrabbits come into this one with a 30-4 overall record.

Providence limps into the NCAA Tournament after getting beat by 27 points by Creighton in the Big East tournament. Providence has struggled as of late, as they haven’t played nearly as well as they did earlier this year.

South Dakota State is lethal from beyond the arc and has one of the top-scoring offenses in the country. Their style of play will give the more methodical Friars some issues. This one will go down to the end, but the Jackrabbits will be victorious.
