March Madness: First Four Betting Analysis and Picks

March Madness is almost upon us, with the First Four games set to begin on Tuesday night. Once we get these 4 games played, the final bracket will be set. That said, there are probably a lot of college hoops fans who have already started filling out their brackets, as none of the teams involved in these play-in games will really be seen as too much of a threat. Still, these games are huge for the participating schools, so we need to pay attention to them and make some predictions as we go. With that in mind, let’s now quickly break down all 4 games for the First Four round so you can get all set to make your bets against their March Madness Betting Odds.

Texas A&M-CC Vs Texas Southern

As you might expect, all 4 games are considered by the bookies to be close, so don’t expect any big spreads here. Texas Southern comes into this one as a 3 ½ point favorite despite the fact that they have lost 2 of the last three meetings with Texas A&M. I think the best bet available here is the OVER 136 points. A&M has seen 10 of their last 14 games as the underdog go OVER, while Texas Southern have seen the OVER hit in 5 of their last 7 games as a favorite.

Indiana Vs Wyoming

One of the great things about the tournament is that we regularly get to see matchups that we would ordinarily never see. That is what we are getting here, with Indiana and Wyoming set to hook up and Tuesday night. Indiana is in as a 4-point favorite and are on a run that has seen them cover the spread in 6 of their last 7 games. On the flipside, Wyoming in just 3-6 ATS in their last 9, but they do seem to get better in March, going 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games played in the month of March. I still like Indiana to win and cover in this one.

Bryant Vs Wright State

Moving onto Wednesday night, we have 2 more First Four games coming our way. One of the things that I am always looking for in the tournament is potential upsets, and I think we might have one here. Wright State come into this game as a 3 ½ point favorite, but I am more than willing to bet against them. Bryant has been a fantastic bet of late, covering in 12 of their last 16 games. Wright State has covered in 4 of their last 5, but I think it is going to be Bryant coming away with the win. I am playing the SU and ATS here.

Notre Dame Vs Rutgers

This is one that is perhaps a little easier to predict given that these two teams have played in a fairly regular basis. In fact, it is the Irish who have won 8 of their last 10 meetings with Rutgers. Despite that, the bookies have them favored by just a single point. Notre Dame went 15-5 SU in their last 15 games and are 14-6 ATS in their last 20. On the flipside, Rutgers went just 2-4 SU in their last 6 and have only covered once in their last 5. While the bookies have this one as being close, I like Notre Dame to win and cover quite comfortably.
