Kentucky struggled to put the Shockers away in their narrow 65-62 second round win on Sunday. UCLA (31-4 SU, 17-18 ATS) pounded Kent State by 17 in their opener before manhandling Cincinnati in their 79-67 second round win on Sunday. Still, I’m thinking the Bruins could be in trouble against a Kentucky team that has more elite talent than they do with a whopping five McDonald’s high school All-Americans dotting their roster, not to mention the fact that John Calipari is clearly the better head coach in this contest. While UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball (14.7 ppg) and fellow freshman forward T.J. Leaf (16.2 ppg) have rightfully gotten a ton of national media attention for their play this season, I like Kentucky’s Malik Monk (20.0 ppg) and De’Aaron Fox (16.1 ppg) to outplay their counterparts in this contest to lead the Wildcats to the ‘upset’ in this contest. UCLA is 0-2 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games, but the Bruins are also just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning SU record, 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games against SEC ballclubs and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. While Kentucky has gone 1-4-1 ATS in their last six NCAA Tournament games, the Wildcats are also 9-4 ATS in their last 13 neutral site games and 3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. West Virginia vs. Gonzaga

When: 7:39 PM ET, Thursday, March 23, 2017 Where: SAP Center, San Jose, California TV: TBS NCAAB Odds: Gonzaga -3 / Total: 148 Analysis: I’ll get right to the point by saying that I really like the West Virginia Mountaineers (28-8 SU, 14-16 ATS) to pull off the huge upset against the Gonzaga Bulldogs (34-1 SU, 22-9 ATS) in this intriguing matchup. I love the Mountaineers’ up-tempo, pressing style of play and I believe they are one of the very few teams that can throw Gonzaga off its ‘smart’ style of play. West Virginia has a handful of elite athletes that I fully expect to out-run, out-jump and just, out-do the Bulldogs at both ends of the floor. The Mountaineers don’t have a bunch of glistening ATS trends to back up my belief that they’ll win and cash in, but that’s why it’s called an upset now isn’t it? When: 10:00 PM ET, Thursday, March 23, 2017 Where: SAP Center, San Jose, California Analysis: Xavier (23-13 SU, 17-18 ATS) Arizona (32-4 SU, 19-14 ATS) TV: CBS NCAAB Odds: Arizona -7 / Total: 144.5 Analysis: Second-seeded Arizona (32-4 SU, 19-14 ATS) is the higher seeded team in this matchup, but right now, I believe the Wildcats are in trouble when they take on a Xavier Musketeers (23-13 SU, 17-18 ATS) ballclub that looked absolutely phenomenal the last time out. Arizona smacked North Dakota senseless in their opener but struggled against St. Mary’s in their 69-60 second round win while Xavier manhandled Maryland – and completely overpowered a very good Florida State team 91-66 in their second round matchup on Saturday despite being 7-point underdogs. While the Wildcats are the better statistical team at both ends of the floor, Xavier is on fire having won five of their last six games and holds the edge in rebounding and bench contributions. Arizona has gone 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight NCAA Tournament games as a favorite and just 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine NCAA Tournament games overall. On the flip side of the coin, Xavier has gone 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall, 14-2-1 ATS in their last 17 NCAA Tournament games as an underdog, 23-5-1 ATS in their last 29 NCAA Tournament games and a bankroll-boosting 17-4 ATS in their last 21 neutral site games.
