Georgetown At Butler Odds, Predictions & TV Info

Written by on January 27, 2017

With February right around the corner, the jockeying for position in college basketball is starting to become a little more frenetic. Teams are well aware that a couple of losses now could mean a tougher ranking heading into March Madness, which adds a little bit of stress to teams that are already ranked among the top teams in the nation. The Butler Bulldogs are currently sitting at #11, and they would like to see their stock rise before the tournament rolls around. Continuing to play at a high level in the Big East, where they are tied at the top with Villanova, would certainly help their cause. They will have a chance to do that this coming Saturday, when they host the Georgetown Hoyas at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. This is a game that you would certainly expect The Bulldogs to win, but let’s not forget that they do have a couple of strikes against them in conference play. This will be the second meeting of the season between these two, with the first going to Butler. Find the updated NCAA basketball point spreads here.

Why bet on the Georgetown Hoyas

The Hoyas have an 11-10 record on the season, but it has been conference play that has been their downfall, as they are coming into this one at 2-6 in the Big East. They are also just 1-3 on the road this season, which does not bode well going into this one to face a team that has been dominant at home. The last meeting between these two came a little earlier this season, and the Hoyas went down 85-76 in that one. Georgetown have not been a particularly good bet against the spread this season, going just 6-13 ATS overall, and 1-3 ATS on the road. On the plus side, they are coming into this one on the heels of a very impressive 71-51 win over ranked Creighton.

Why bet on the Butler Bulldogs

While the Hoyas are coming into this game on a high, it can be argued that the Bulldogs are doing the exact same thing. Their last game was a win on the road against Seton Hall, which just happened to be the first game that the Pirates had lost in their building this season. Butler will be out to protect their own home record in this one, going 11-0 in their own building this season. While the Bulldogs have only dropped 3 games this season, 2 of those have come versus unranked opponents, so you can bet that they will not be looking beyond this one, especially since Georgetown are coming in off that big win over a ranked opponent.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

As impressive as Georgetown were in their last outing, I don’t see them being able to win back to back games against ranked foes, especially against a Butler team that has yet to lose at home this season.
