A Closer Look At The Week 14 College Football Pair Of Upset Picks

Temple Owls (9-3) at Navy Midshipmen (9-2)

When: Saturday, December 3, 2016
TV: ABC; ESPN 3
Spread: Navy Midshipmen -3 / Total: 62

Analysis:
The Owls (9-3 SU, 11-1 ATS) enter the AAC Championship game on fire, having won six straight games including their emphatic 37-10 blowout of East Carolina this past Saturday while covering the spread as a whopping 22.5-point favorite. The 25th ranked Navy Midshipmen (9-2 SU, 7-3-1 ATS) have won four straight including their regular season ending 75-31 blowout over SMU this past weekend while easily covering the spread as a 7-point favorite.

While a decisive 78 percent of public bettors like the Navy Midshipmen to cover the spread as 3-point home favorites, I’m going to advise you to back the Temple Owls to get it done in this AAC conference championship matchup. While Navy has one of the best rushing attacks I the country, Temple has one of the best run-stopping defenses in the nation and I’m fully expecting the Owls to limit Navy’s rushing attack while forcing them into uncomfortable passing situations.

The Owls are an experienced bunch and have one of the country’s best coaches in my opinion in Vern Rhule.  Not only that, but Navy’s defense is lacking and Temple has some playmakers, starting with running back Jahad Thomas. The Owls are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and a seriously consistent 24-8 ATS in their last 32 conference games.

The Midshipmen are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 home games and 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 conference games. However, with Temple going 4-1 ATS in their last five road dates against Navy and 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall, I say the Owls are a great underdog pick in this one!

My Pick:
Temple 35 Navy 31

Wisconsin Badgers (10-2) at Penn State Nittany Lions (10-2)

When: Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 8:00 PM ET
Spread: Wisconsin -2
Moneyline: Penn State +110 at Wisconsin -130 / Total: 46.5
TV: FOX

Analysis:
The sixth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers (0-2 SU, 9-2-1 ATS) have won six straight and come into the Big Ten title game off an emphatic 31-17 smackdown over Minnesota last weekend. The red-hot eighth-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (10-2 SU, 8-3-1 ATS) are on fire, having won eight straight games coming into this contest including their 45-12 smackdown of Michigan State this past weekend as 11-point home favorites.

While a solid 62 percent of the betting public likes Wisconsin, I’m going to urge you to back Penn State to pull off the huge Conference championship upset. The Nittany Lions have the far more explosive offense and better quarterback in this affair. While Wisconsin has a lockdown defense that is as good as any in the country, the Badgers aren’t very explosive offensively and could be in trouble against a Nittany Lions team that just keeps finding ways to exploit their opponents.

The Badgers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games and 6-1-1- ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record, but Penn State has gone 7-0-1 ATS in their last eight games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win

My Pick:
Penn State 24 Wisconsin 23
