2022 NFL Betting Analysis Monday Night Football: Denver Broncos at Seattle Odds and Picks

It’s going to be an odd site in Seattle on the first Monday Night Football game of the season. We’ve seen Russell Wilson in a Seattle Seahawks uniform for years. He’s won a Super Bowl for Seattle, and has been arguably one of the franchise’s best players. This season, Wilson will be on the opposite sideline wearing Denver Broncos orange and blue.

Wilson had asked for a trade, and the Seahawks abided. Wilson was sent to the Broncos for young, up-and-coming players, and draft picks. Wilson is thought to be the missing piece for the Denver Broncos. Denver hasn’t had a standout quarterback since Peyton Manning retired, and with a nice arsenal of weapons, many think that Wilson will lead the Broncos to the playoffs.

Let’s preview each of the team’s before their Week 1 matchup in Seattle so you can get ready to bet against their NFL Betting Lines.

An Early NFL Preview of the Denver Broncos @ Seattle Seahawks Week 1 Matchup

Denver Broncos

With Wilson at the helm, the Broncos will finally have an offense that teams will be afraid of. This could finally be the season that Jerry Jeudy breaks out. He, along with Courtland Sutton, make up a dynamic receiving duo. Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon will man the backfield for the Broncos. They have a nice offensive line in place, and if everyone stays healthy, Wilson should have a very good year.

Defensively, the Broncos should have one of the top units in the league. Defense hasn’t been the issue the past few seasons in Denver. Ejiro Evero, who has a lot of the same philosophies as former head coach Vic Fangio, was hired by new head coach Nathaniel Hackett, to run the defense. With that being said, there shouldn’t be a lot of changes to the schemes and philosophies. With one of the league’s best secondaries, along with a pass rush anchored by Bradley Chubb and free agent-signee Randy Gregory, the Broncos defense should be stout once again this season.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks will look a lot different without Wilson at the helm. Veteran Geno Smith will now be under center for Seattle. He’ll still have DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett at his disposal, along with tight end Noah Fant who was acquired in the Wilson deal. Rashaad Penny, who broke out at the end of last season, along with rookie Kenneth Walker III will be the primary backs. The offensive line will still have some question marks, but this should still be a good offense.

Defensively, the Seahawks may be a little worse than they were last season. They lost DJ Reed to the New York Jets in free agency, and made very few changes to last year’s unit. They did make a few signings, but nothing significant.

Game Numbers and Predictions

The Broncos are favored by six points on the road. Denver will have to deal with a raucous stadium, as the “12th Man” will be out in full force to give Wilson a very hard time. Even though the Seattle Seahawks will give Denver a tough game, we see the Broncos pulling away late and winning by a score of 28-17. The Broncos win and cover the spread in the process.
