When you look at the upcoming schedule and betting odds for the week in the NFL, there are games that jump right off the page that you know you need to bet. Then there are those that require a little more research, which very often complicated the issue even further. The one that is giving me the biggest problem this week is the Sunday night match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs are already in the playoffs, but they are looking to hold off the Chargers to maintain their #1 seed. On the flip side, the Seahawks still need at least one more win to punch their playoff ticket. The Chiefs will come into this one as a 2 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 54.

Why bet on the Kansas City Chiefs?

The Chiefs looked as though they were going to cruise to the #1 spot in the AFC, but they are now in danger of dropping out of the top two and into Wild Card Weekend. That is exactly what will happen if they lose this one and the Chargers beat the Ravens on Saturday.

A loss to those very Chargers last week puts KC in a very uncomfortable spot, and they are now playing .500 ball over the last 4 weeks. It’s the worst time possible to start cooling off, and you can bet that some doubts will start creeping in if they end up dropping this one, too. The Chiefs have been a very good ATS bet on the road this season, going 5-1-1, although they are just 2-1 ATS as a road favorite.

Chiefs at Seahawks is going to be a close one.

This is a team that has thrived as the underdog, at least against the spread, going 4-1-1 in the 6 games they were handed the dog label. Perhaps more impressive, though, is their record in primetime games over the years. The Seahawks seem to love the national spotlight, as they have gone an incredible 24-6-4 ATS in their last 34 night games.
