Why Bet on Dallas?

The Cowboys had no trouble stomping the Falcons 43-3 on Sunday. A week after allowing 190 rushing yards to the Broncos, and 8 of 15 third-down conversions, the Cowboys’ defense limited the Falcons to just three points and one third-down conversion in 11 tries, and Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw for just 117 yards, the fewest he has had in a game with at least 10 attempts in his career.

Dak Prescott completed 24-of-31 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys, adding five rushing yards and a third touchdown on two attempts. With the Cowboys routing the Falcons to start the fourth quarter, Prescott took a seat in favor of Cooper Rush.

Prescott has 126 touchdown passes and 25 rushing touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2016 and joined Daunte Culpepper and Cam Newton as the only players with at least 125 touchdown passes and 25 rushing touchdowns in their first six seasons in league annals.  Prescott has 17 career games with both a passing and rushing touchdown, the fourth-most such games by a quarterback in his first six seasons in NFL history. Only Newton (35), Culpepper (20) and Josh Allen (19) have more.

Ezekiel Elliott rushed 14 times for 41 yards and two touchdowns. He added three catches for 15 yards on three targets in the passing game and also scored a two-point conversion following a blocked punt touchdown. T Elliott was able to convert his goal-line looks for one- and two-yard touchdowns in the second quarter. They were his first scores since Week 5.

CeeDee Lamb caught 6-of-7 targets for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Lamb was over 100 yards receiving, but the official scorer changed a 12-yard catch to a run, knocking him below the century mark and Prescott below 300 yards.

Cornerback and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Trevon Diggs had his eight pick of the season. Those are tied with Jairus Byrd (eight interceptions in 2009) and Tim Jennings (eight in 2012) for the most interceptions by a player in his team’s first nine games of a season since 1990.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said left tackle Tyron Smith has “a real shot” at playing in Week 11 against the Chiefs. Smith has been sidelined for the past two weeks with the ankle issue. Terrence Steele has started in his place.

Why Bet on Kansas City?

The Chiefs played maybe their best game of the season on Sunday night, torching the Raiders 41-14. Patrick Mahomes completed 35-of-50 passes for 406 yards and five touchdowns. It marked the third game of Mahomes’ career with 400+ passing yards and 5+ touchdowns, which are the most such performances through five career seasons in the Super Bowl Era. Only four players other than Mahomes have accomplished that feat since 2018, and Mahomes is the only signal caller to do it multiple times.

It was also the 30th game of Mahomes’ career with 300 passing yards, moving him past Kurt Warner for the most 300-yard games through five seasons in league history.  Mahomes said it was just a matter of time before the Chiefs found their way again on offense. The Chiefs scored a total of 36 points in their three previous games, though they managed to win two.

“We’ve done it before,” he said. “We’ve done it these last few seasons. We were doing it at the beginning of this season. We were moving the ball, we were making a lot of stuff happen.”

Tyreek Hill caught 7-of-10 targets for 83 yards and two touchdowns and Travis Kelce caught 8-of-10 targets for 119 yards but didn’t find the end zone. It was Hill’s 12th career game with multiple receiving scores. The speedster Hill leads the NFL in that category since 2017 and is one of only 10 players to tally 12 or more such games through 84 career outings in the Super Bowl Era.

Darrell Williams rushed 11 times for 43 yards and caught all nine of his targets for 101 yards and a touchdown. The nine receptions and 101 receiving yards were both new career highs for the fourth-year pro. Clyde Edwards-Helaire (knee) resumed practicing but he was not activated off of injured reserve despite being eligible. This does open the door for the Chiefs’ original starting tailback to return against the Cowboys.

The addition of Melvin Ingram via trade has enabled Kansas City to play a more traditional strategy upfront defensively and it paid dividends against Las Vegas. They managed to hold the Raiders to just 50 yards rushing on the day, holding Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs to just 16 yards on seven carries.
