Indianapolis Colts fans should be excited about the 2022 season. While last season looked to be very promising for the Colts, things didn’t end well, and Indianapolis didn’t make a playoff run like they had hoped to have. Much of the blame fell on the shoulders of quarterback Carson Wentz. Well, Wentz can’t be blamed for any failures that they have this season, as he has been traded to the Washington Commanders. It’s time to take a deeper look at the Colts and what lies ahead for them in 2022 so you can get ready to bet against their NFL Odds.
A Look at the Betting Numbers for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022
Season Preview
The Colts made a big splash when they replaced Wentz, as they acquired veteran quarterback Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons. Ryan should be an upgrade over Wentz, and he has led the Falcons to a Super Bowl. Even though he’s at the end of his career, Ryan still has some good years left in him, and the Colts are excited for him to lead their offense.
Offensively, the Colts should be very good. With Ryan at the helm, we should see a very strong play-action game from the Colts. That’s because they have arguably the best running back in football, Jonathan Taylor, behind Ryan. With Taylor, and one of the top offensive lines in football, along with the emergence of receiver Michael Pittman, Jr., the Colts should be able to put up some points.
Defensively, they will also be very strong. They upgraded their pass rush, and acquired one of the best cornerbacks in the league in Stephon Gilmore. The defense was decent in 2021, but they should be very strong in 2022 with the additions that were made.
2022 Win Predictions
Las Vegas has set the Colts win total at 9.5. The Colts didn’t win the AFC South last season, so they don’t have to play as tough of a schedule as the Tennessee Titans will have to. With a relatively weak division, we like the over. The schedule seems to be favorable for the Colts this season, and as long as Taylor and/or Ryan stay healthy, the Colts should be a 10-win team.
Divisional Odds
At a -105 to win the division, the Colts are a huge favorite to win the AFC South. As we stated earlier, in a division with Tennessee, Houston, and Jacksonville, the Colts should be the class of the division. Tennessee lost a lot of key pieces from last year’s team, and Houston and Jacksonville are still in rebuild mode.
Odds to Win the AFC
The Colts are a +1300 to win the AFC. The AFC is stacked this season, and even though the Colts are heavily favored to win their division, they still have the eighth-best odds to win the conference. With such a loaded conference, it’s going to be tough for the Colts to win the AFC, but this looks like a very good value bet in our opinion.
Prop Bets
Matt Ryan is currently a +4000 to win the league MVP award. If Ryan were to lead the Colts to a great season, this could be a very good value bet. Jonathan Taylor is a +500 to lead the NFL in rushing yards. Taylor should be one of the top runners in the league this season. Teams will be keying on stopping him more this season, but with a stellar offensive line, Taylor should put up some huge numbers again this season.
