Jaguars vs Cowboys NFL Week 6 Odds & Preview

Written by on October 11, 2018

After dropping two of their last three games, including their respective Week 5 matchups, both, the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars will be semi-desperate to get back in the win column this coming weekend.

Will Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys be able to get the big win to avoid the upset as a field goal home underdog or will Blake Bortles and the Super Bowl-hopeful Jags take care of business?

Let’s find out right now what’s going to go down in this Week 6 Inter-Conference clash.

Why Bet On The Jacksonville Jaguars?

Why should you bet on Jacksonville in this Week 6 matchup? While Jacksonville’s offense isn’t very explosive (20.0 ppg) it’s still statistically better than Dallas’ (16.6 ppg). Not only that, but the Jags are also far, far better defensively as they limit the opposition to just 17.2 points per game to rank third in points allowed. There’s also the fact that Jacksonville’s Doug Marrone is clearly a better head coach than Dallas’s lame duck Jason Garrett.

Last but not least, I’m going to say that Jacksonville is going to be highly motivated after suffering a humbling 30-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend that saw Blake Bortles toss four costly interceptions, including one pick-six.

“They did a good job early in the game getting a lead. They did a good job early on third downs in the game. Offensively, we didn’t execute,” Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said.

Why Bet On The Dallas Cowboys?

Are the Cowboys a safe NFL Week 6 pick?

Why should you bet on the Cowboys in this Week 6 matchup? Well, there’s the fact that the Cowboys are playing at home where they’ve won both of their games this season. There’s also the fact that the Cowboys have been really good defensively in limiting the opposition to just 19.2 points per game to rank an encouraging fifth in points allowed. Another good reason to back the ‘Boys is because Jacksonville doesn’t have the most explosive offense around and will be without superstar running back Leonard Fournette, although they did add veteran Jamaal Charles just this week.

Dallas will also have its own motivation after suffering a heartbreaking 19-16 overtime loss against Houston on Sunday. Dak Prescott was limited to 208 passing yards and threw two costly interceptions while star running back Ezekiel Elliott was held to just 54 rushing yards and no scores on 20 carries after entering the game as the league’s leading rusher.

“We just haven’t gotten it going on offense,” Prescott said. “I don’t know if there’s one thing you can pinpoint, but we’ve got to figure it out.”

Expert Analysis and Prediction

I know Jacksonville hasn’t looked very good the last three weeks and that they’re playing on the road in this contest, but for me, the Jags are actually far, far, better than Dallas on defense and in the coaching department and that’s why they’ll win and cover. I know Jacksonville is missing powerful running back Leonard Fournette and that veteran quarterback Blake Bortles is mediocre at best, but the Jags are still the easy pick to get the win and ATS cover if you ask me because of their defense and Dallas’ lack of playmakers on offense.

The Jaguars are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a straight up loss. On the flip side of the coin, Dallas has gone 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. There’s a reason why a compelling 67 percent of public bettors like the Jags to win and cash in. Jacksonville’s defense will lead the way to the big win and ATS cover.
