2022 NFL Betting Predictions: Analysis & Picks of Every QB Matchups for Week 1

In just four days, the NFL season will kick off! In looking at this week’s slate of games, we’re going to look at the quarterback situation for each team, and we’ll give you our NFL Betting predictions for each game. Here we go!

Looking At the Quarterback Matchups in Week 1 of the NFL Season

Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Rams

What a way to kick off the NFL season on Thursday night! The defending Super Bowl champions will host the favorite to win the Super Bowl this season. We’ll see a great quarterback battle between Matthew Stafford and Josh Allen. There are some questions surrounding the health of Stafford’s shoulder. Allen will have a huge arsenal of weapons at his disposal, and is primed for an MVP-caliber season.

We like the Bills to win a close one.

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons

Jameis Winston is back and looks to be fully recovered from his season-ending injury from last season. For the first time in a long time, the Atlanta Falcons won’t have Matt Ryan under center. They traded Ryan in the offseason to the Indianapolis Colts. Marcus Mariota and his young group of receivers will face off against New Orleans.

The Falcons are rebuilding, and the Saints will still have a very good defense. We like the Saints here.

Cleveland Browns @ Carolina Panthers

What an offseason it’s been for the Browns! With all of the drama surrounding Deshaun Watson and Baker Mayfield, the Browns have constantly been in the news. The Browns finally gave in and traded Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers. Isn’t it ironic that Mayfield will square off against his old team this week? Mayfield will be fired up for this one. We’re not sure how Jacoby Brissett will handle the Cleveland offense.

We like the Panthers to upset the Browns.

San Francisco 49ers @ Chicago Bears

Trey Lance will be the starter for the Niners, who should be a playoff team. The Bears are rebuilding, and Justin Fields doesn’t have a lot to work with. The Niners win this one going away.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals

While we’re hearing that Mitchell Trubisky will start for Pittsburgh, we’re still not sure, and we could see first-round pick, Kenny Pickett, as well. They’ll face off against Joe Burrow, whose team is coming off of a Super Bowl loss to the Rams.

With all of the uncertainty facing the Steelers quarterback position, we’re taking the Bengals in this one.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Detroit Lions

This could be a make-or-break season for Jalen Hurts. If he struggles early, we could even see Gardner Minshew. The Eagles went out and got AJ Brown to help the passing game, so a lack of weapons won’t be an excuse.

In Detroit, Jared Goff is back to lead the Lions. They should be better, but they still have a ways to go.

The Eagles beat the Lions.

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans

Let the Matt Ryan era begin in Indianapolis! Many have felt that the quarterback position is what has been holding the Colts back. We’ll see if Ryan is the answer.

Now that Deshaun Watson is gone, this is Davis Mills’ team. Mills had a nice rookie season, and should be even better this season.

Indy will be too much for Houston.

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins

With no one truly knowing who is running the Patriots offense this season, many feel that Mac Jones could be put in a bad situation. As for Miami, Tua Tagovailoa has to show everyone that he is the answer for Miami. After the Dolphins went out and got an offensive-minded head coach, and traded for Tyreek Hill, there are no more excuses for Tagovailoa.

Miami has the better all-around team, and they’ll beat the Patriots in Week 1.

Baltimore Ravens @ New York Jets

We’ll see how Lamar Jackson plays this season. Whether or not he gets a new contract could be a factor in Jackson’s play. Even if he doesn’t get an extension, we still think that he’ll be one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the game.

As for the Jets, it sounds like Zach Wilson will be ready for Week 1. If he isn’t, Joe Flacco will get the call against his former team.

Baltimore is the better team, and will win this game.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Washington Commanders

Carson Wentz will be playing for his third team in three years, as he starts for the Commanders. Trevor Lawrence is now under the tutelage of Doug Pederson who has a history of making quarterbacks into stars.

Jacksonville will be ready for this one and will beat the Commanders.

New York Giants @ Tennessee Titans

Now that Brian Daboll is coaching the Giants, many expect Daniel Jones to take the next step. We’ll see if Daboll has the answers to make Jones a better signal-caller. Ryan Tannehill will be back for the Titans, but he won’t have AJ Brown or Julio Jones this season.

The Giants will be better, but they won’t beat Tennessee this week.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Arizona Cardinals

This one should have a lot of scoring. Now that Kyler Murray got his new contract, the Cardinals are hoping that he becomes one of the league’s elite quarterbacks. We’ll see how Patrick Mahomes does without Tyreek Hill.

This one will be fun to watch, as both teams will put up some big offensive numbers. Mahomes and the Chiefs will outlast the Cardinals.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Chargers

Derek Carr now has his old buddy, Davante Adams, by his side. Justin Herbert is one of the best young quarterbacks in the game, and should have a loaded arsenal of weapons at his disposal.

The Chargers will win their home opener.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings

Aaron Rodgers knows that his window to win a Super Bowl is closing quickly. He doesn’t have a great group of pass-catchers, so we’ll see how he handles everything. Kirk Cousins has been one of the most highly-criticized quarterbacks over the past few seasons. With Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, and Justin Jefferson, Cousins has some huge weapons.

Those weapons won’t be enough to beat the Packers though.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Dallas Cowboys

We’ll get to see Tom Brady take on Dak Prescott on Sunday night. At 45 years old, Brady is still showing everyone that he is winning the battle with Father Time. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones, Russell Gage, and a strong offensive line, the Buccaneers should be able to score.

Prescott’s offensive line has had some injury issues, so we’ll see how the Cowboys offense adjusts.

Dallas has a lot of hype, but that’s all it is. The Cowboys aren’t that good. Take Brady in this one.

Denver Broncos @ Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson will return to his former stomping grounds to take on his old team on Monday night. We’ll see how the fans react to Wilson. Geno Smith takes over for Wilson, after winning a quarterback competition against Drew Lock.

Wilson has the better team, and will win on Monday night.
