NFL 2021 Season: Rams vs Giants Betting Analysis & Prediction

The Los Angeles Rams travel to the Meadowlands on Sunday to face off against the New York Giants.

Week 6 of the NFL season brings us an NFC tilt between the 4-1 Los Angeles Rams and the 1-4 New York Giants. The Rams are well-rested, coming off a Thursday night win over the Seahawks, while the Giants are banged up after a tough loss in Dallas.

The Rams have opened up as a massive 10.5 road favorites for this game, while the total has been set at 47.5. The kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm EST, and you can watch the game on FOX or DAZN. That being said, let’s have a closer look at both teams and how they arrive to this Rams vs Giants matchup so you can bet against their NFL odds.

NFL Betting Preview for LA Rams at New York

Rams Defense Needs To Be Better

Last year, the Rams had the best-ranked defense in all of the NFL. Through the first five games of the 2021 season, it’s been a different story. Los Angeles is allowing an average of over 400 yards per game and has struggled against opponents’ rushing attacks.

The loss of last year’s defensive coordinator Brandon Staley may have proved costly, but a unit that consists of stars like Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Leonard Floyd is too talented to keep playing at this level.

Offensively, Matt Stafford regressed a little bit the last couple of weeks but still remains a top-tier quarterback that has plenty of options around him. Cooper Kupp is the best slot receiver in all of football, and Robert Woods is coming off the best game of his season so far with 12 receptions for 150 yards.

Veteran wideout DeSean Jackson remains a great decoy option with his speed as well and is usually good for one explosive play every week.

Injury-wise, the Rams are one of the healthiest teams in the NFL, with only two players on the IR and one listed as questionable.

G-Men Are Banged Up

The Giants were beaten up in more ways than one last week against the Cowboys. Not only did they lose 44-20, but quarterback Daniel Jones left the game with a concussion before halftime, and running back Saquon Barkley rolled his ankle in the first quarter and was carted off.

The injuries don’t stop there. Wide receivers Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, and Kadarius Toney are all questionable (hamstring), plus Kenny Golladay is doubtful (knee).

Defensively, safety Jabril Peppers is also dealing with a hamstring ailment, and middle linebacker Blake Martinez is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Although the Rams’ early defensive struggles are concerning, it won’t be a problem against a Giants offense that has basically lost all of its starters. The Rams offense should have no trouble against a Giants defense that has been manhandled through five games, and the Rams should dominate time of possession.

Mike Glennon will start in place of Jones, and I have no problem fading a journeyman QB that has a record of 6-21 in NFL games that he starts. Even as double-digit favorites, I have no problem backing the Rams in this spot.

The Pick: Los Angeles Rams -10.5
