For the past four seasons, the quarterback position has been like a turnstile for the team now known as the Washington Commanders. This past offseason, the team traded for Carson Wentz. Wentz didn’t seem to be the answer for the Colts, but Ron Rivera thinks that Wentz is what this team needs.
We’ll see if Wentz is the missing piece, as the Commanders are just two years removed from winning the NFC East. They should have a very good defense this season. The defense started out slow last season, but played better towards the end of the season, despite injuries to key players.
With a good defense, and some new offensive additions, we’ll see if the Commanders have what it takes to compete with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles for supremacy in the NFC East.
Let’s take a look at the Commanders projected win total and their 2022 schedule so you can plan your bets against their NFL Win Loss Total Odds.
Are the Washington Commanders Ready for a Playoff Run in 2022?
How Many Games Will the Commanders Win in 2022?
The oddsmakers have made the predictions, and the Washington over/under has been set at 7.5 wins. Washington gets to play the NFC North this season, so other than the game with the Packers, all of the other games are very winnable for the Commanders. They also have games against Houston, Jacksonville, and Atlanta, and they’ll play the New York Giants twice, so 8 wins could be attainable.
2022 Schedule Overview & Predictions
The Washington Commanders open up the season by hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then with a trip to Detroit to take on the Lions. This is a great way to open up the season, as these are two very winnable games. From there, the schedule gets a little tougher.
Weeks 3 and 4 are divisional games, as they host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, and then take a trip to Dallas in Week 4. Things get a little easier again after that, as the Commanders host the Tennessee Titans and then take a trip to Chicago to take on the rebuilding Bears.
In Week 7 the Commanders take on the Green Bay Packers, and then have another tough game as they head to Indianapolis to take on the Colts. We’ll see if Carson Wentz will have a vendetta against the team that gave up on him after just one season.
Weeks 9-15 look very favorable for Washington. In Week 9, they host the Vikings, and then a Week 10 trip to Philadelphia. After that, they have a stretch of winnable games. They play at Houston, then host the Falcons. They’ll then play the Giants twice in a three-week stretch, as they have a bye week in between their two games.
They end the season with three very tough games, as they’ll travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in Week 16. They’ll host the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, and then end the season in Dallas in Week 18.
We think the Washington Football Team, oops, we mean the Commanders will win at least 9 games this season. We like the over if you’re willing to place a wager on the over/under win total of 7.5
