Why Bet On Washington?
Redskins coach Jay Gruden said he didn’t even go back to watch the tape of New Orleans’ defense from their last meeting in 2015 because they’re so different now in scheme and personnel. The Washington Redskins really need this to stay in the hunt for a wild-card spot. And they love playing at the Superdome for some reason, usually a house of horrors for opponents. The Redskins are 7-1 all-time at the Superdome and have won four straight at New Orleans. Fourteen other teams have a winning record against the Saints at the Superdome, which opened in 1975, but the Saints’ only non-divisional opponent with as many wins as the Redskins in New Orleans during that span is the Eagles (7-4). Washington comes off a 38-30 home loss to Minnesota. Cousins completed 26-of-45 passes for 327 yards with a touchdown and an interception while rushing for two touchdowns in the loss. He threw a 36-yard touchdown to Maurice Harris on the opening drive. Cousins then added 1-yard and 2-yard rushing scores with Rob Kelley out of the game.
What’s Going on with Rob Kelley?
Kelley has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season. He was dealing with a high-ankle sprain and sprained MCL. RB Byron Marshall was signed in a corresponding roster move. Kelley was hurt pretty much from the jump this season, injuring his ribs before spraining his ankle. He aggravated the ankle in Week 10 while picking up a knee sprain. Kelley had only carried 62 times for 194 yards, with three touchdowns, for an average of 3.2 yards per carry. The Redskins will move forward with Chris Thompson as their lead back and rookie Samaje Perine getting some work. In addition, starting linebacker Will Compton was placed on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury. He had taken over for Mason Foster at inside linebacker; Foster’s season ended last month because of a separated shoulder. Martrell Spaight will take over for Compton. Cousins will start his 42nd consecutive regular season game for the Redskins to pass Mark Rypien (41 from 1990-93) for the second-longest streak by a Redskins quarterback since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, trailing only Joe Theismann (60 from 1980-84).Team Statistics

The Saints smashed Buffalo 47-10 last week – the Bills had been unbeaten at home — to improve to 7-2. The Saints, who have won seven consecutive games after starting 0-2, are the second team in the Super Bowl era to win its next seven games immediately following an 0-2 start. The other team to accomplish the feat – 1993 Dallas Cowboys – won the Super Bowl in that season. The Saints rushed for 298 yards and a franchise-record six touchdowns against the Bills. New Orleans is the fifth team in NFL history – including the postseason – to rush for at least 295 yards and six touchdowns in a single game, joining the 1940 Chicago Bears (December 8, 1940, NFL Championship), 1950 New York Giants (November 19, 1950), 1951 Los Angeles Rams (November 18, 1951) and 1957 Cleveland Browns (November 24, 1957).Who is Leading the Rushing Yards?
Running back Mark Ingram leads the Saints in rushing this year, having posted 672 rushing yards on 144 carries with seven rushing touchdowns. Rookie Alvin Kamara has also contributed to the run game with 417 yards on 64 attempts with four rushing touchdowns. Saints WR Michael Thomas ranks fourth in the NFL with 59 catches this season. He has 151 receptions in 24 career games, and needs four catches on Sunday against Washington to surpass Anquan Boldin (154) for the second-most catches by a player in his first 25 games in NFL history. Sunday’s contest will feature two of the NFL’s all-time leaders in completion percentage.
