Week 14 NFL Pair Of Upset Picks Offering Ton Of Value

Written by on December 8, 2016

If you’re looking for some Week 14 NFL upset picks, then you should know that two matchups in particular are offering a bunch of value this week. Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers will look to handle Philip Rivers and the explosive San Diego Chargers while Eli Manning and the New York Giants look to hand the Dallas Cowboys their second loss of the regular season in their NFC East divisional showdown. Let’s find out why both underdogs are offering some nice value in their respective Week 14 matchups.

A Closer Look At The Week 14 NFL Pair Of Upset Picks Offering Ton Of Value

San Diego at Carolina

When: Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1:00 PM ET Where: Bank of America Stadium NFL Odds: San Diego +1 Analysis: Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers (5- SU, 7-5 ATS) have alternated SU wins and losses over their last four games but were on the wrong end of a 28-21 loss against red-hot Tampa Bay this past Sunday while failing to cover the spread as a 3-point favorite. Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers (4-8 SU, 3-7-2 ATS) have lost two straight and three of their last four games overall and come into this matchup off a pitiful 40-7 blowout loss against Seattle this past weekend while never coming close to covering the NFL betting line as a 9-point underdog. The Bolts might have a losing record right now, but they’re also own of the most dangerous in football in ranking fourth in scoring at 27.8 points per game. Carolina has struggled mightily to score the ball this season (23.5 ppg), but it is the Panthers uninspiring 27th-ranked defense (26.7 ppg) that leads me to believe they’re in big trouble in this contest. San Diego has compiled a bankroll-boosting 11-5 ATS mark in their last 16 games and equally impressive 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games, Carolina is just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games and looks like a team that has given up all hopes at this point. Pick: San Diego 28 Carolina 24

Dallas at NY Giants

When: Sunday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 PM ET Where: MetLife Stadium NFL Odds: NY Giants +3 Analysis: The Dallas Cowboys (11-1 SU, 9-2-1 ATS) won their 11th straight game by getting past Minnesota’s powerful defense to win 17-15 in a hard-fought contest last weekend despite narrowly failing to cover the spread as a 3-point favorite. Dak Prescott completed 12 of 18 passes for a modest 124 yards and one touchdown while running back Ezekiel Elliott rushed 20 times for 86 yards and another score. The New York Giants (8-4 SU, 5-5-2 ATS) had their five-game winning streak snapped in their 24-14 loss to Pittsburgh this past Sunday while failing to cover the spread is a 6.5-point underdog. Eli Manning tossed two TD passes but canceled them out with two costly interceptions while allowing Ben Roethlisberger to throw two TD passes and Le’Veon Bell to rush for 118 yards. For this huge NFC East divisional matchup, I’m going to urge you to back the desperate Giants to get the home win and accompanying ATS cover, not because they’re better than the Cowboys (they’re not) but because the timing just seems to be right to me. The Giants are coming off a loss the last time out and are desperate to get a huge win in this contest against their hated rivals. On the flip side of the coin, Dallas was extremely fortunate to beat Minnesota last week New York could also close the gap on Dallas in the NFC East and have confidence they can beat the Cowboys after beating the ‘Boys in Dallas 20-19 in their regular season opener. While Dallas has gone 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games and 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, the Cowboys are also just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against the Giants. With New York going 5-2 ATS in their last seven games and 8-4 ATS in their last dozen home games against Dallas, I say Eli Manning and the G-Men get the huge upset at home to snap Dallas’ impressive 11-game winning streak. Pick: NY Giants 28 Dallas 27
