Week 1 didn’t go as planned for both the Atlanta Falcons and the Los Angeles Rams. The defending Super Bowl champion Rams played in the opening game of the season at home, and were thoroughly dominated by the Buffalo Bills. The Falcons lost a heartbreaker to the New Orleans Saints. This one will be big, as neither team wants to get off to an 0-2 start.
The Falcons will travel across the country to take on the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. Atlanta surprised everyone last week, as they probably should have beaten the New Orleans Saints. We’ll see which team can get into the win column, and which team will be in a bad spot with an 0-2 start. That said, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming game between Falcons and Rams, so you can bet against their NFL Betting Lines.
Will the Rams Rebound in Week 2 Against the Falcons?
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have undergone some big changes since last season. The biggest one being not having Matt Ryan under center. After the Falcons traded Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts, they signed Marcus Mariota to replace him. Mariota played well in the loss to the Saints, and he is a dual threat that can hurt you with his arms and his legs. Mariota is backed up by the multi-faceted Cordarrelle Patterson, second-year tight end Kyle Pitts, and rookie wide receiver Drake London. Without Calvin Ridley, who is suspended for the season, London is their #1 receiver.
While the offense could surprise some people, the Falcons need the defense to do the same. In the past, the Falcons offense has done its fair share, but it has always been the defense that was lacking. We’ll see if it’s the same old story for the Falcons this season, or if the defense steps it up.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams didn’t look good in their loss to the Bills. Matthew Stafford and the offense turned the ball over too many times, Allen Robinson looked lost in the Bills offense, and Cam Akers was basically non-existent. Cooper Kupp had a great game, and Darrell Henderson looked good out of the backfield, but other than those things, the Rams were bad.
The Rams defense also struggled. Jalen Ramsey didn’t play well, and the Bills offense seemed to have their way with a defense that should be one of the better ones in the league. We’ll see if Aaron Donald and company can get things together on Sunday.
Prediction
The oddsmakers think the Rams are going to bounce back in a big way, as they’ve been made a 10-point favorite. In looking at the betting numbers, they don’t look promising for either of the two teams. The Falcons are 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games, while the Rams are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games.
Putting all of the numbers aside, we really like the Rams in this one. They will be coming off of extra rest; they know that they didn’t play well against the Bills, and we feel like the Falcons played over their heads last Sunday. The Rams are the better team, and they’ll rebound from last week’s poor showing. The Rams win this one 31-17 and cover the large spread.
