NFL Week 9 Odds & Betting Picks: Teams to Most Likely Lose this Week

NFL Week 9 Odds & Betting Picks: Teams to Most Likely Lose this Week

The start of Week Nine signals that the season is officially halfway through. With the season halfway through, we get a nice look at where teams stand and how they will approach the balance of the season going forward.

Week Nine is full of intriguing matches. Week Eight appeared to be the week when teams started to really pull away from the competition. As Week Nine draws near, we examine the teams that will undoubtedly lose their upcoming game.

Which teams will lose this week? Let’s look at the games and see which clubs are the best to bet against the NFL Odds in Week Nine.

Who Are the Sure Losers in Week 9 of NFL Action?

Los Angeles Chargers vs Atlanta Falcons (+3)

The Falcons are who we thought they were. After starting the season against the spread darlings (6-0), the Falcons have not failed to cover in their last two contests in embarrassing fashion.

They were unable to handle a Panthers team at home that was on their third-string quarterback and, before that, were destroyed by the Bengals 35-17.

To make matters worse, they will face a Chargers team that loves to throw the ball, and the Falcons are the worst team in the NFL against the pass, allowing 306 yards per game through the air.

The Chargers are a good option on the road, with a 4-3 ATS record for the season. All three of Los Angeles’ away games this year have been victories. Coming off a Bye week, expect the Chargers to be well-rested and ready to get back to competing in the AFC West.

Miami Dolphins vs Chicago Bears (+4.5)

The Chicago Bears make the list this week as sure losers after conceding 49 points to the Cowboys last week. The offense has played much better, especially Justin Fields; however, the offense still ranks last in passing yards and is averaging just 19.4 points per game.

The Cowboys’ offense torched the Bears’ defense all day long last week, and I can’t imagine them getting any better after dealing away star defensive end Robert Quinn. They struggle to get after the quarterback, and it’s hard to think that they can stop a loaded Dolphin offense.

The offense under Tua Tagovailoa and Head Coach Mike McDaniel has continued to appear incredibly dangerous; Miami has since gone 5-1 when Tua is under center.

In the victory over the Lions, the quarterback completed 29 of 36 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle combined for 188 receiving yards with two touchdowns.

In their last nine home games, the Bears have been difficult to back at Soldier Field, going 2-6-1 ATS. Expect the Bears to drop another game at home.

New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts (+6.5)

The Indianapolis Colts are primed to be losers once again in Week Nine. Sam Ehlinger saw his debut spoiled by the Commanders as the Colts were incredibly inept on offense, managing just ten points.

Even with the quarterback switch, the Colts have failed to top 17 points in four of their last five contests. To make matters worse, they could potentially be without their top running back Jonathan Taylor who exited the game last week with an injury.

The Patriots, on the other hand, are playing tremendous football. Despite some quarterback controversy brewing in New England, the Patriots have been able to take care of business, including going on a four-game stretch where they have averaged 25.8 points while surrendering just 16.3 points over that span.

Defensively, this is where the Patriots will really make things hard on an inexperienced quarterback like Sam Ehlinger.

Not only did New England’s defensive unit pick off Zach Wilson three times in their last matchup, but the Patriots own the most takeaways in the league (16), including ten interceptions. Mark up the Colts as losers in Week Nine.
