The Dallas Stars will be looking to extend their winning ways when they host the visiting Vegas Golden Knights in an intriguing matchup of Western Conference Stanley Cup hopefuls on Friday night. With the Knights looking to get back in the win column and the Stars looking to take care of business at home, let’s find out which team is offering the best value against their NHL Odds.

Golden Knights vs Stars 2019 NHL Odds, Preview & Prediction

Why Bet On Vegas?

Vegas has dropped three in a row and the Knights will likely be highly focused in this contest because of that fact. Vegas comes into this contest off a humbling 4-2 loss against the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues. Now, the Knights get to face the red-hot Dallas on the back end of consecutive nights.

“A definite tough back-to-back,” Golden Knights left winger Jonathan Marchessault told reporters. “It’s really unfortunate that the first game’s a loss but (we’re) lucky enough that we have a game tomorrow to redeem ourselves and show a better 60-minute effort.”

Max Pacioretty found the back of the net in his 100th game as a Golden Knight on Thursday to tally his 12th goal of the season. Left winger William Carrier gave the Golden Knights a brief 2-1 edge in the first period by scoring his first goal since Nov. 13 and his fourth of the season. Veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury made 25 saves Thursday but is expected to sit as backup Malcolm Subban, who is 4-5-3 with a 3.04 goals-against average and .901 save percentage, gets the start. Vegas is averaging 2.85 goals per game this season while allowing 2.85 per contest defensively.

Why Bet On Dallas?

Dallas has won three straight including a convincing 2-0 shutout win over New Jersey on Tuesday night. The Stars got the win for new head coach Rick Bowness who was hired following the sudden and shocking firing of former head coach Jim Montgomery who was removed from his position for unprofessional conduct Tuesday morning.

“(Bowness) brings a lot of energy to this group and he brought a lot of energy on the bench,” Stars forward Joe Pavelski told reporters. “It was kind of an odd day and not an easy one. Anytime something like that happens, (playing) is the easiest part.”

Goaltender Ben Bishop stopped all 26 shots he faced to earn his first shutout of the season and 32nd of his career.

“We’ve gotten pretty close this year and the guys have been playing great all season,” Bishop told the media. “The goalie gets the reward, but it’s a team effort.”

Dallas got first period goals from Radek Faksa and Joe Pavelski to lead the way to victory. Bishop is currently 12-6-2 on the year with 1 shutout and a goals against average of 2.03.

Golden Knights vs Stars Expert Analysis and Prediction

Vegas has struggled defensively all season long and the Knights aren’t scoring enough goals to overcome their defensive deficiencies if you ask me. Vegas is averaging 2.65 goals per game on the road while allowing 2.76 defensively. Conversely, Dallas is putting up 2.76 goals per game at home while limiting the opposition to just 1.82 goals per game on their home ice.

While Vegas does have an encouraging 8-7-2 road mark coming into this one, Dallas has gone a blistering 12-4-0-1 at home.

The Golden Knights are 3-7 in their last 10 road games while the Stars are a near-perfect 10-1 in their last 11 home games. The Stars beat Vegas 4-2 at home on Nov. 25 and I’m thinking this contest is going to end up with an identical result.

Pick: Dallas 4 Vegas 2
