PGA Tour 2023 Travelers Championships Betting Odds, Favorites to Win and Analysis

The PGA Tour schedule heads to the Northeast for the 2023 Travelers Championship at TPC at River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The designated event is loaded with some of the best golfers in the world as a follow-up to last week’s U.S. Open. This week’s event begins on Thursday, June 22nd, and concludes after four days of individual stroke play on Sunday, June 25th.

Xander Schauffele is in action this week to defend his title after defeating J.T. Poston and Sahith Theegala by two shots last season. The victory was Schauffele’s sixth PGA Tour win and first of two in 2022.

With the event elevated to one of the Tour’s designated tournaments, the purse increased substantially. Last year the field fought for a piece of an $8.3 million dollar purse, with the winner receiving a $1.494 million share. This year, that purse has ballooned to $20 million, with the victor taking home $3.6 million.

It’s time to take a closer look at our golf betting analysis so you can get all set to bet against the PGA Tour Odds.

The Field

Eight of the top ten players in the world are set to tee it up this week, including all players ranked inside the top five of the Official World Golf Rankings. Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm headline the field as the top two players in the world.

Wyndham Clark, the winner of the U.S. Open, is also teeing it up this week, less than a week after capturing his first major win.

Past champions of the event playing this week include Harris English, Chez Reavie, Russell Knox, Kevin Streelman, and two-time champion Stewart Cink.

The Course

TPC at River Highlands has hosted the Travelers Championship since 1984. The course is part of the Tournament Players Club, which is a network of golf courses managed by the PGA Tour.

The club was founded in 1928 as the Middletown Golf Club and later became known as the Edgewood Country Club. After a redesign by golf course architect Pete Dye in the early 1980s, the course changed its name again to TPC of Connecticut.

Further remodeling took place five years later in 1989 under the direction of Bobby Weed with the help of two PGA Tour pros. Since those changes, the course has held its current name.

A short track for the PGA Tour circuit, TPC at River Highlands is a par-70 that spans approximately 6,800 yards. Accuracy off the tee is paramount if a pro wants to put themselves in a position for birdies, which they’ll need a lot of to win.

Travelers Championships Betting Favorites

Scheffler (+620) comes into the tournament as the betting favorite, with Rahm (+1025) and Patrick Cantlay (+1075) right behind him. Scheffler looks to lock up his third win of the season after closing out the last four tournaments inside the top five.

Rory McIlroy (+1100) comes in good form after a runner-up finish to Clark at the U.S. Open. Xander Schauffele (+1300) and Viktor Hovland (+1800) also played well at the Los Angeles Country Club and round out the top betting favorites this week.
