2021 Gallagher English Premiership Round 9 Expert Analysis

Written by on February 10, 2021

Okay MyBookie rugby betting buffs, with Round 9 of the 2021 Gallagher Rugby Premiership season approaching, it’s time to find out which matches are offering the best betting value this coming weekend. With that thought in mind, let’s take a look at three of this weekend’s six Round 9 matches along with their Rugby odds.

Rugby Betting Analysis for Round 9 of the English Premiership

Harlequins (4-1-3) Vs Leicester Tigers (4-0-4)

Harlequins have won two straight including its 28-15 win over Bath on Saturday. The bad news is that they haven’t won three in a row in the tournament since March 2019. The Londoners have not been victorious at the Twickenham Stoop in any competition since beating Northampton there on August 30.

Leicester has won three of four and rolled all over Worcester 41-24 on Saturday. the Tigers only defeat in the last four Rounds of Gallagher Premiership Rugby was at home to Sale on January 29. The bad news is that the Tigers have not won a Premiership Rugby match played away from home since a trip to Newcastle in April 2019. Harlequins are unbeaten in their last three encounters with the Tigers and I like them to make it four as they grab the much-needed win at home in a thriller in Round 9.

Pick: Leicester 22 Harlequins 16

Exeter Chiefs (6-0-2) Vs London Irish (3-1-4)

The Exeter Chiefs got past Newcastle 15-9 on Sunday and have lost only twice in their last ten Gallagher Premiership Rugby matches. Both defeats came in early January, at the Wasps and at home to Bristol. The loss at Bristol snapped a four-game winning run at Sandy Park in all competitions.

Excluding their two declared defeats in Rounds 4 and 5, London Irish have not lost in Gallagher Premiership Rugby since their home fixture with Sale on 6 December. London got past Gloucester 32-26 in a high-scoring affair on Saturday. The Exiles last road win in Premiership rugby was against…you guessed it, Exeter, at Sandy Park in Round 21 last season. However, London has not won consecutive fixtures against Exeter since 2011. Exeter wins by at least a half-dozen points to cover!

Pick: Exeter 26 London 18

Worcester Warriors (2-0-6) Vs Wasps (4-0-4)

Worcester got smacked around en route to a humbling 41-24 loss against Leicester on Saturday. The Warriors only ‘victory’ in any competition since November was the declared win at home to Harlequins in Round 5. The Wasps have lost their last two Gallagher Premiership Rugby matches both at home, including a 22-17 loss against Northampton on Saturday. The good news is that the Wasps have not lost three in succession in the competition since December 2019. Wasps have won their last dozen fixtures against the Warriors in Premiership Rugby since Worcester’s 29-23 victory at Sixways in March 2013. The Wasps are the easy pick in this one!

Pick: Wasps 26 Worcester 20
