After a long, exciting season in the NRL, it all comes down to one more game to decide who will end the season as the champion.
It has been a long road for the two teams that made it to the Grand Final, but after all is said and done, it was the teams who finished 1st and 2nd, respectively on the ladder that will be battling it out for supremacy in the NRL.
My Analysis for the Road to the Grand Final
In fact, the two teams that will be competing for the championship this Sunday have a very solid recent history, with these two teams sharing the championship over the last 4 seasons.
The Melbourne Storm has 1 NRL title in that time, while the Penrith Panthers come into the Grand Final looking to win it for the 4th straight year.
Let’s take a look at how both teams got her, while making a prediction for the big game.
^Melbourne Storm -118
The Storm finished atop the ladder this season, picking up 44 points along the way, finishing 4 points ahead of the Panthers in 2nd place.
Melbourne scored 692 points this season, which was 2nd best in the league, while surrendering a total of 449 points.
That made for a differential of 243 points, which was, again, 2nd best in the league.

Once we got into the Finals stage of the proceedings, the Storm played in the group with the top 4 teams and had an easy Week 1 showing, taking out the Sharks by a score of 37-10.
That victory put them right into the semi-finals, which came in Week 3.
Once again, it was an absolutely dominant show in that game, where they went on to beat the Roosters by a score of 48-18.
The Storm is something of an offensive juggernaut, but they are about to face a team that could well slow them down.
^Penrith Panthers -102
The Panthers are the 3-time defending NRL champions, which is an amazing feat, but can they go out and make it 4 in a row?
Penrith certainly had a solid regular season, finishing with 40 points, which was good enough for 2nd on the ladder.
They put up 580 points in the regular season, but their defense was fantastic, surrendering just 394 points, which was far and away the best in the league.

The Panthers went into Week 1 of the finals with a game against the Roosters, punching their semi-final ticket with a convincing 30-10 win over the Roosters.
They were in another low scoring game in the semis, holding the Sharks to just 6 points in a 26-6 win.
While it may not be as convincing a performance as what we have seen from their opponent this weekend, this is a team that is built on defense first, which makes the Grand Final very intriguing indeed.
^Melbourne Storm vs Penrith Panthers Grand Final Prediction
This is very much a case of the unstoppable force against the immovable object, but who will come out on top?
The Melbourne Storm won both meetings against the Panthers this season, winning by scores of 24-22 and 8-0.
I expect another close one here, but I think you have to take the Storm to win another tight affair.

Penrith Panthers Preview
It has been yet another dominant campaign for the Panthers, and they will be chasing history this weekend as they look to become the first team in four decades to win three consecutive premierships.
Their dominant season continued last weekend, as they booked their spot in a fourth straight Grand Final with a dominant 38-4 success against the Melbourne Storm, which was the biggest preliminary final winning margin in NRL history. A number of trends support the chances of a Panthers victory this weekend, as they come into the Grand Final after winning each of their last eight finals matches.
The Panthers have also excelled at Stadium Australia in recent history after winning nine of their last eleven. Penrith also have a fine record against the Broncos, as they have won five of their last six clashes against their rivals this weekend.
Brisbane Broncos Preview
Sunday will also be a date with destiny for the Broncos, as they will be competing in a Grand Final for the first time since 2015. Furthermore, they will be looking to end their 17-year wait for a title in the NRL. Brisbane was excellent in their preliminary final last Saturday, as they stormed to a 42-12 success against the Warriors.
Reece Walsh was in dominant form throughout that match, and he will need to be at his very best once again this weekend if the Broncos are to end their long wait for a premiership title. The Broncos have a fine record in Grand Finals since entering the NRL in 1988, as they have won on six of their seven appearances.
However, they haven’t won a final match in Sydney since 2008. It will be a special match for Kotoni Staggs, who will be making his 100th NRL appearance, while Adam Reynolds needs just one point to reach 200 points in finals matches.
NRL Grand Final Prediction
This is the showdown that all neutrals would have been hoping for, as the Broncos and Panthers have been the standout sides in the NRL throughout the season. However, it appears challenging to overlook the Panthers, as they have been excellent throughout the entire history in their bid to create rugby league history in Australia.
