Mexico vs Haiti

Although many soccer handicappers are discounting Haiti’s chances, the Haitians have won 5 straight soccer matches going back to a 3-1 international friendly versus Guyana on June 11. Haiti also beat Bermuda 2-1, Nicaragua 2-0, Costa Rica 2-1, and Canada 3-2. Haiti is a good soccer team that earned their way to the Gold Cup Semifinals.

Unfortunately, the Haitians battle the best overall squad at the 2019 Gold Cup on Tuesday. Mexico has been fantastic in their four Gold Cup matches. They dominated Cuba 7-0 before blasting Canada 3-1. The Mexicans laid off of Martinique in their final group play match. They still won 3-2.

In the quarterfinals against Costa Rica, Mexico played Los Ticos to a 1-1 draw during regulation. They then beat Costa Rica 5-4 on penalty kicks. Costa Rica was probably the second or third best team at the Gold Cup. Now that Mexico is past Costa Rica they should have no trouble beating Haiti by at least 2 goals. The handicap, Mexico -1 ¾ -104, is the best wager to make.

USA vs Jamaica

The United States is a solid -200 choice to beat Jamaica on Wednesday. One of the reasons for the odds is because the U.S. hasn’t allowed a goal during the CONCACAF Gold Cup. They’ve beaten Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Curacao a combined 12-0.

Although from a combined goal perspective, the U.S. appears to be in great form, the truth is that they aren’t. They struggled to get past Panama 1-0. Then versus an overmatched Curacao squad, they could only win 1-0 again.

Jamaica has a shot to win this in regulation. The Jamaicans beat the United State’s 1-0 in the last head-to-head, an international friendly. That match was back on June 5.

But, backing Jamaica to upset the U.S. in regulation might not be the optimal bet here. The Jamaicans are at +1 -113, which means if the United States only beats them 1-0, Jamaica wins on the handicap. That’s the wager to make. Jamaica shouldn’t lose by more than 1 while there’s a chance they beat the U.S. straight up on Wednesday.
