There’s a reason why Petra Kvitova is the overwhelming favorite and it’s because Petra Kvitova is a two-time champ in this tournament and has a tour-leading five titles this year. “I know it’s always end of the season and everybody is tired, everybody has something. But I’m always kind of enjoying the time here. Probably that’s why it’s seeing on the results, as well.” Kvitova and Krunic have played twice in their careers while splitting the two matches. Kvitova won the inaugural meeting 6-4, 6-2 back in 2011 but Krunic got some revenge with a 6-4. 6-4 win the last time these two met at the US Open in 2014.
Prediction
I’m going with Petra Kvitova for the win against the smaller, less powerful 25-year-old Krunic. Kvitova would probably like to add to her title haul this year and the more points she gets now, the better off she’ll be for the WTA Tour Finals. Aleksandra Krunic has had a fine year in setting a new career high with her singles ranking (39t), but Petra Kvitova is the stronger, more experienced player in this match. Cibulkova is 2-1 since then while this event represents Halep’s first competitive play since New York. I’m feeling like Dominika Cibulkova is offering some excellent value in this match as a value-packed +300 underdog and you should too.
