French Open Frenzy: Can Paolini Upset Swiatek? Decoding French Open Betting Odds

French Open Frenzy: Can Paolini Upset Swiatek? Decoding French Open Betting Odds

Roland Garros prepares for a captivating conclusion! The 2024 French Open Women’s Final pits the dominant Iga Swiatek against the surprise challenger, Jasmine Paolini, in her Grand Slam debut. But before you place your wagers, let’s dissect the French Open betting odds and identify potential value bets.

The 2024 French Open at Roland Garros wraps up this weekend with a pair of interesting – but very different – finals.

Betting French Open WTA Finals Odds and Picks | MyBookie Women’s Tennis Preview for the Third Grand Slam of the Year

2024 French Open | 123rd edition of the Roland-Garros – Internationaux de France de tennis – 94th Grand Slam
Women’s Final: Saturday 8th June, 2024

2024 French Open Finals

The men’s final should be tightly-contested and will feature two top-seven seeds (Jannik Sinner/Carlos Alcaraz vs. Casper Ruud/Alex Zverev), while the women’s final features a seemingly unstoppable force, Iga Swiatek, against Italian underdog Jasmine Paolini, who is playing in her first grand slam final.

Swiatek’s recent dominance is undeniable, but the French Open is known for its upsets.

Analyzing the French Open betting odds goes beyond the championship clash.

How They Got Here

Swiatek

Swiatek, a three-time French Open winner and the most dominant player – male or female – on clay courts right now, has won 18 consecutive matches and is 44-4 this season.

She earned a spot in the final with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Coco Gauff in the semi-finals and lost just two games in her previous two wins against Marketa Vondrousova and Anastasia Potapova, the latter of whom she beat 6-0, 6-0 in the Round of 16.

Swiatek’s only blemish at Roland Garros was in the second round against Naomi Osaka.

She won the first set in a tiebreak, lost the second set 1-6, and trailed 4-1 in the third set and saved match point before rallying to win 7-5.

Paolini

Paolini, meanwhile, is 22-10 this season and 10-3 on clay courts.

She wasn’t even among the top-10 betting favorites heading into the tournament, but has benefited from some upsets in the draw and made some of her own.

She beat 17-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva in straight sets in the semi-final and avoided having to play Aryna Sabalenka, who was upset by Andreeva in the quarter-finals.

Paolini upset Elena Rybakina, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

Paolini also scored victories over Elina Avanesyan, Bianca Andreescu, Hailey Baptiste, and Daria Saville.

She has been on court an hour longer than Swiatek through six matches.

Women’s French Open Final Preview

Iga Swiatek (-2000) vs. Jasmine Paolini (+770)

It’s rare to see a grand slam final in which one player is favored as heavily as Swiatek.

With -2000 odds, it’s tough to bet on her even if you think she’s going to win as there’s not much juice.

Paolini is certainly capable of winning this, but it seems incredibly unlikely considering Swiatek is a three-time French Open champion and hasn’t lost in 18 matches.

You kind of had the sense she would cruise through to the finals after surviving that scare from Osaka and she has done just that.

Swiatek is 2-0 against Paolini and both of those matches lasted fewer than 17.5 games, which is the total for Saturday’s final.

Paolini also failed to cover the +6.5 (+106) spread listed for the final in her two previous meetings against Swiatek.

The Polish star beat Paolini 6-3, 6-0 at the 2022 US Open and scored a 6-2, 6-1 victory over her on clay in 2018.

While Paolini didn’t cover the numbers in either of those matches, it’s reasonable to expect a much closer match on Saturday with so much on the line.

The over 17.5 total is the best bet as Swiatek can still win in straight sets and hit the over, i.e. 6-3, 6-3.

Must-Bet French Open Matches: Surprising Women’s Final

Previous Betting News

The 2023 French Open is nearing a conclusion after two weeks of exciting action and headline matches. Iga Swiatek, the overwhelming favorite to win the women’s draw, cruised to the final without dropping a set, and will face the unseeded Karolina Muchova in the final after the Czech player upset Aryna Sabalena in the semifinals.

In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were set to take to the court at Philippe-Chatrier on Friday morning, followed by Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev. Let’s take a closer look at the women’s final, second men’s semifinal, and some other interesting betting opportunities.

Let’s take a quick look at the remaining French Open outright odds for the Women’s Final.

Must-Bet French Open Matches: Surprising Women’s Final | MyBookie Roland Garros Preview

Roland Garros Semi finals: Thursday 8 June, Friday 9 June, 2023

Alexander Zverev (-114) vs. Casper Ruud (-110)

The second of the two men’s semifinals is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday morning, but could be delayed assuming the Djokovic and Alcaraz matchup goes the distance. This is the fourth match between the two young stars, with Zverev holding a 2-1 advantage. However, they’ve never played on clay; both players have similar career-winning percentages on the surface.

Zverev has shown incredible resiliency one year removed from suffering the worst injury of his career in the semifinals of the 2022 French Open against Rafael Nadal. He has lost just two sets through five matches. Ruud, meanwhile, has dropped three sets and has spent only 10 fewer minutes on court than Zverev.

This should be at least a four-set match, so the over 39.5 games (-119) is definitely an attractive bet. Their last match at the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami went three sets. It’s a close call for the winner, but I’d lean Zverev (-114).

Iga Swiatek (-847) vs. Karolina Muchova (+500)

Muchova scored a major upset over Sabalenka in the semifinals on Thursday, not only because she was a massive underdog but the way in which she won the match. Muchova, while clearly hobbling, overcame a 5-2 deficit in the third set to score the victory. You have to imagine she doesn’t have much left in the tank and will be in tough against Swiatek, a two-time French Open winner who hasn’t dropped a set through six matches.

It’s worth noting that Muchova holds a 1-0 advantage over Swiatek, but that win came four years ago when Swiatek was just 18 years old and was in Muchova’s home country of the Czech Republic. Swiatek has been on court only 7 hours and 41 minutes compared to Muchova, who has played 12 hours and four minutes.

Hopefully, we have a back-and-forth, entertaining final, but it’s tough to imagine. Swiatek at -847 doesn’t offer much value, but Swiatek and over 18.5 games (+108) is a decent betting option. Muchova would just need to win on serve seven times in two sets, which is certainly possible.

Other attractive props for the final include Swiatek first set winner (-526) and first set correct score 6-3 (+344).

2022 French Open Betting Recap Heading Into the Finals

Previous Betting News

The action continues at Stade Roland Garros, but not for much longer, as there are only four more men and just two female tennis players left in the race for the coveted trophy.

And while we will have to wait a bit longer before we know which two men tennis players will compete in the finals, we already know which two females will duke it out in the big game.

In this article, we will look at what happened on the French clay on Thursday, June 2, and how Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff reached the finals of the 2022 French Open so you can keep betting against the French Open Odds.

2022 French Open Betting Recap Heading Into the Finals

Swiatek Unstoppable Once More

Thirty-four straight and just one more victory away from killing two birds with one stone, Iga Swiatek could set the new record for the most consecutive games won and lift the French Open trophy on Saturday, June 4, when she will face off Coco Gauff in the finals.

Usually, we would say that a player’s road to the finals wasn’t easy, and even though it wouldn’t be fair to say that Swiatek didn’t have to work hard to make it this far, she did make it seem very simple. Even more impressive is that Swiatek seemed to be getting better and better with each passing round.

On Thursday, June 2, Swiatek faced off against Daria Kasatkina in the semis in what promised to be a fairly one-sided affair. But no one expected it to be as one-sided as it ended up being.

Swiatek defeated Kataskina in straight sets, with 6-2, 6-1, coming close to emulating the performance from the opening two rounds, when she defeated Tsurenko and Riske with 6-0, 6-2.

As the score would suggest, Swiatek was in complete control of the game from the get-go, and besides a couple of slip-ups when she gave Kasatskina a fighting chance, the Polish tennis star looked unstoppable.

With the form she has been showing, Swiatek now only proved once again why she is the current no.1 in the world, but she is also heading into the 2022 French Open finals as the clear favorite to win the prestigious trophy.

The Teenage Prodigy

At just 18-years-of-age, Coco Gauff came out of nowhere to join Iga Swiatek as the second French Open finalist, with a victory against Martina Trevisan.

And not only did Gauff win the semi-final match, but she completely outclassed the Italian tennis player with 6-3, 6-1 to secure her most one-sided victory in the 2022 French Open.

Although Gauff did face some resistance from Trevisan, she kept playing her own game and ultimately proved to be the better player on the day. Now she will make her debut in a Grand Slam final, having never before made it even close to this stage.

Gauff, who is known to break down on her serve in high-pressure games, had a phenomenal day with her serve, giving away just two double faults. Moreover, she maintained a high first-serve percentage of 74%!

In 2021 she did reach QF of the French Open, albeit she wasn’t able to achieve the same heights in the other Grand Slams, whit her best placement being an R4 exit at Wimbledon.

2019 French Open Women’s Finals Odds & Betting Preview

Previous Betting News

No Serena Williams, no Simona Halep, and no Naomi Osaka means that the French Open Women’s Finals on Saturday, June 8 will lack star power. However, even though it will lack star power, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be an excellent match. In fact, the lack of star power could be the reason Marketa Vondrousova and Ashleigh Barty put on a fantastic show on Saturday. Check out French Open Women’s Finals odds, analysis, and a free pick!

2019 French Open Women’s Finals Odds & Betting Preview

When: Saturday, June 8 at 6:00am ET
Where: Roland-Garros, Paris, France

Marketa Vondrousova vs Ashleigh Barty

French Open Women’s Finals Odds: Marketa Vondrousova +125 / Ashleigh Barty -166

A 19-year-old Czech Republic teenager, Marketa Vondrousova easily handled her competition in the first four rounds. She didn’t lose a set to Yafan Wang, Anastasia Potapova, Carla Suarez Navarro, and Anastasija Sevastova.

Vondrousova didn’t lose a set to Petra Martic either. She needed an extra set after the first set to beat Martic, but she overcame that hiccup. In the semifinals against Johanna Konta, she needed an extra set again. She beat Konta 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) to set up this finals match versus Barty.

Ashleigh Barty beat Sofia Kenin 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. She then dominated Madison Keys 6-3, 7-5 before running into 17-year-old Amanda Anisimova. Although Anisimova pushed Barty in the first set, she never lost control of the match.

That’s one of the reasons Barty is favored to beat Vondrousova on Saturday. Ashleigh has proven time again that she can pick herself up if she must. She did it against Sofia Kenin even though Kenin headed into that fourth round match after dominating Serena Williams 6-2, 7-5.

Anisimova, who had beaten Simona Halep in the quarterfinals, won the first set 7-6 (7-4) over Barty. Barty battled back 6-3, 6-3 to win the semifinals. Every time she’s faced adversity during the French Open, Ashleigh Barty has stepped it up.

Although that’s true, the same can be said for Marketa Vondrousova. Marketa cruised to the quarterfinals, but there she ran into some trouble. Favored Petra Martic had beaten both Karolina Pliskova and Kaia Kanepi on her way to the quarters. Vondrousova needed an extra set to beat Martic. She got it.

The bottom line is that Marketa Vondrousova has yet to lose a set at the French Open. She’s needed a couple of extra sets to lock down two victories. She won those extra sets. That makes Vondrousova the play on Saturday. It’s hard to see Marketa suddenly falling apart. She’ll beat Ashleigh Barty for the French Open Championship.

Tennis Betting Pick: Marketa Vondrousova

Tennis Prediction for 2018 Women’s French Open Final

Previous Betting News

After winning her first Grand Slam title just last fall, World No. 10 and 2017 U.S. Open winner Sloane Stephens will look to keep World No. 1 Simona Halep from doing the same when they square off in the WTA Finals portion of the 2018 French Open. The Tennis Betting favorite, Simona Halep, has lost three Grand Slam finals in her career, including two at Roland Garros in 2014 and 2017 and is desperate to make the Grand Slam breakthrough that Stephens pulled off just last year.

If you’re wondering whether Halep can finally nail down her first career slam win and avoid the upset, then let’s get to my expert WTA French Open Finals betting pick right now.

Simona Halep vs. Sloane Stephens Tennis Betting Prediction

When: Saturday, June 9 at 8:00 AM
Where: Roland Garros, Paris, France
TV: NBC

Stephens Road to the Final

Tennis Betting Odds to Win: +185

Sloane Stephens smacked Magdalena Frech senseless in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round, but then narrowly avoided a huge upset in the second round by squeaking by Camila Giorgi 4-6, 6-1 and 8-6 in the third set in the second round. Stephens then beat Anett Kontaveit to a pulp 6-2, 6-0 in the third round before pounding Daria Kasatinka6-3, 6- in the quarterfinals.

Stephens then took out fellow American Madison Keys 6-4, 6-4 in the semis by winning a scorching 77 percent of her first serve points and 65 percent of her second serve points. Sloane overcame seven aces by Keys and had just 11 unforced errors in the match.

Halep Road to the Final

Tennis Betting Odds to Win: -225

Simona Halep smacked Taylor Townsend around 6-3, 6-1 in the first round, before defeating Andrea Petkovic 7-5, 6-0 in the second round. The World No. 1 then dispatched Elise Mertens 6-2, 6-1 in the third round, but needed three sets to get past World No. 12 Angelique Kerber 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before running roughshod all over World No. 3 and 2016 French Open winner Garbiñe Muguruza 6-1, 6-4 in the semis on Thursday.

Halep won 61 percent of her first serve points and 50 percent of her second serve points while winning 56 percent of her return points and breaking Muguruza six times. Halep has produced one bagel, three one-game wins and one two-game victory this tournament and has the look of someone determined to finally claim her first grand slam title after going 0-3 in slam finals in her career.

Expert Tennis Betting Pick

Halep and Stephens have faced one another seven times in their careers with Halep owning a decisive 5-2 record that includes four consecutive victories dating back to 2013. Halep has also claimed a victory in both of their career meetings on clay with both wins coming in straight sets back in 2012 at Barcelona and 2014 here at Roland Garros.

Overall, four of Halep’s five career wins over Stephens have come in straight sets, even though it should be noted that Stephens is no longer the weak-minded player that she used to be.

Nevertheless, I’m going with Simona Halep to nail down her first grand slam title by subduing the sweet-swinging Stephens in three tough sets.

Halep is more mentally mature than ever and really is the better clay court player, not to mention the fact that she’s been locked in and focused from the start as she gets set to play in her third final at Roland Garros. Go with Simona Halep in Three Sets.
