The final is set on the women’s side, but on Friday, the men take center stage for the semifinals. All eyes are on the top two seeds to see if Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic can set up another epic grand slam match in 2023. They met in the French Open semifinals and the Wimbledon final, with each player getting a win.
Meanwhile. 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev and 20-year-old American Ben Shelton want to make some headlines of their own. MyBookie has the best US Open lines for Friday’s action from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York.

Can Medvedev Solve Alvarez?
Medvedev beat Alcaraz back at 2021 Wimbledon, but this year, the Spaniard is 2-0 and hasn’t dropped a set. Alcaraz beat Medvedev 6-3, 6-2 in the final at Indian Wells and then ran him off the court 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in the Wimbledon semifinals.
Alcaraz is a big favorite for a No. 1 vs. No. 3 matchup, as MyBookie posts him -390 to win the match. Medvedev is +280 on the money line and +5.5 games on the spread. The total games is 36.5, with the over at -111 and the under at -102.
This will be the late match on Friday, and both players should be well rested. Medvedev has done better in this tournament breaking serve than Alcaraz, as he’s won 50% of his break points. He will have to do that level or better on Friday, as Alcaraz has lost just one set in this entire tournament, and he enters the semis on a 7-set win streak.
Both players should come out swinging and play aggressively as they have both won on this stage before as the last two champions. Medvedev hasn’t won a set against Alcaraz in two years, and the last grand slam match totaled 27 games.
Alcaraz has seized momentum early in every match and under 36.5 games, has hit in all of his matches at the US Open, and should again on Friday.

Shelton a Huge Underdog Against Djokovic
Shelton is on a dream run, his first-ever semifinal, and a chance to be the first American male in a grand slam final since Andy Roddick retired. Roddick is also the last American male to win a slam 20 years ago in New York. But to get there, he will have to upset 23-time champion Novak Djokovic, who appears to be on a mission this week.
Djokovic is a prohibitive favorite on Friday at -2000 on the money line at MyBookie. Shelton is +850 on the money line at +7.5 games on the spread. A 3-0 win by Djokovic is expected with under 31.5 games at -118 and over 31.5 games at -111.
These two have never played, and Shelton is 0-5 against Top 10 players in his young career. The lefty does have a 3-0 record in 5-set matches if he can find a way to make it last, but he’s 3-15 when losing the first set, so Shelton needs a fast start. Djokovic is 33-2 this season when winning the first set and 3-0 against lefties, but he’s 0-1 in 5-set matches.
The under is probably the best bet in this one. Shelton’s power could give Djokovic some trouble as he hasn’t seen it in person, but expect the new world No. 1 to adjust early and take control of the match.
