Everyone in the WNBA will be breathing a sigh of relief this week. For the first time in the league’s history, the regular season schedule was expanded to 40 games. What that meant was an extra week of worrying for teams looking to make the playoffs.
Most of the field has already been decided, but there are still a few teams that need to be worried going down the stretch this week.

The Wings have three games remaining and could assure themselves the fourth seed in the playoffs by winning all three. If Minnesota were to lose one of its last two, Dallas would only need to worry about winning one more. But gaining some confidence may be more important for the Wings.
Dallas has dropped three of its past five games. The Wings are 17-19-1 against the spread this season. Four of Dallas’ last five games have gone over the total.
The Liberty have won six straight games and have an unlikely shot at the top seed if they win their last three games. New York is 5-1 against the spread over the past six games. Three of the Liberty’s last five games have gone over the total.

The Dream is looking to solidify as high of a seed as possible for when they make a long-awaited return to the playoffs. If Atlanta could beat Washington again this Friday, the Dream would have taken three of four games against the Mystics and could land at No. 6. The Mystics’ problem has been injuries.
Ariel Atkins, Shakira Austin, Kirsti Toliver, and Queen Egbo are all still on the injury report. The Mystics star forward Elena Delle Donne has also missed significant time.
Delle Donne’s recent return has helped Washington win two of its past four games. The Mystics’ offense hasn’t looked spectacular as the Mystics have been involved in rock fights with five straight games going under the total.
The Dream is running out of gas as the finish line approaches. Atlanta has lost seven of 10 games and hasn’t clinched a playoff spot yet. The Dream are 17-20 against the spread this season.

Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever

The Sky need to keep the pressure on the Los Angeles Sparks in the standings. Chicago got a big boost when the Sky clipped the Sparks 76-75 on Aug. 29 on the road.
The Sky also has a favorable turn in the schedule by playing Indiana and Minnesota in two of its final three games. Chicago has won two of the three meetings between the teams this season. The Sky are 4-1 against the spread over the past five games and 3-2 straight up, Indiana is already eliminated from the playoff chase but has sprung to life over the last month of the season.
The Fever is 5-5 straight up over its past ten games. Indiana has also won four of its past five games, including a 97-84 Sept. 3 win over Dallas.
