AFL Betting – Round 15 Odds & Picks from Sept. 2nd to 4th

Written by on August 31, 2020

Can third place Brisbane and fourth place Richmond move up the ladder to challenge for first place with four weeks of regular season action remaining? Can 12th place Carlton pull off the big upset to challenge for a spot in the top eight or will ninth place GWS take care f business at home? With a modest six-game slate of action on tap for Round 15 of the 2020 AFL regular season, it’s time to take a look at the most value-packed pairings on the docket, along with their AFL odds.

2020 AFL Odds and Picks for Round 15 from Sept. 2nd to 4th

Richmond Tigers (9-4-1) vs Fremantle Dockers (5-8-0)

Richmond is in fourth place in the AFL standings with 945 points scored and 781 points allowed. The Tigers have won three straight and come into this affair off a convincing 88-61 home win over West Coast on Thursday. Fremantle is sitting in 14th place in the 18-team AFL ladder with 647 points scored and 726 points allowed. The Dockers come into this contest off a humbling 91-53 home loss against GWS on Saturday. More importantly, Richmond has won three straight while scoring at least 110 points in every contest, including their 111-86 road smackdown a year ago. The Tigers are streaking right now and looking forward to the postseason while Fremantle really has nothing left to play for except pride. Richmond is by far, the better team at both ends of the pitch and the Tigers have more than enough motivation to get it done in this one. Yes, the Tigers are a high, -833 moneyline pick, but Richmond is as close to a ‘lock’ as it gets.

GWS Giants (7-6-0) vs Carlton Blues (6-7-0)

GWS is in ninth place in the AFL ladder with 808 points scored but 794 points allowed defensively. The Giants did snap a two-game losing streak by pounding Fremantle 91-53 on Saturday despite being on the road. Carlton had their two-game winning streak snapped in their humbling 72-48 road loss against Collingwood on Sunday as they slipped to 12th place in the AFL ladder. While Carlton is completely desperate to give their postseason hopes a big boost in this matchup, it doesn’t bode well that the Blues have dropped two straight against GWS while getting blown out in both meetings, including their 138-45 road loss last season. Greater Western Sydney is playing at home and they will be seriously motivated as they sit one game out of potentially finishing in sixth place. I love the Giants as a value-packed -200 pick in this one.

Brisbane Lions (10-3-0) vs Collingwood Magpies (8-5-1)

Brisbane is sitting in third place in the AFL ladder with 903 points scored and 769 points allowed. The Lions have won three straight and four of their last five including a hard-fought 50-48 home win over St. Kilda on Sunday. Collingwood is sitting in sixth place in the standings with 818 points scored and 732 points allowed defensively. The Magpies have won two straight and four of their last five including a 72-48 road win over Carlton on Sunday. While Carlton has won three straight over Brisbane including an emphatic 123-61 blowout road win last season, this season, the Lions are the better team at both ends of the pitch. Brisbane is playing at home and still has an opportunity to finish in first place if they win out and either league-leading Port Adelaide or second place Geelong stumbles over the final four weeks. Brisbane has too much to play for to lose this contest, not to mention the Lions want revenge after suffering consecutive embarrassing losses to Collingwood. This one will be a street fight kind of matchup, but Brisbane escapes with the narrow win.
