AFL Grand Final Will See One Championship Drought End

AFL Grand Final Betting: Will We See One Championship Drought End

Winning a premiership is always the goal of every AFL squad at the beginning of the season. The two teams playing for the flag this season in the grand final will be eager to return to the top of the mountain.

Collingwood hasn’t won a grand final since 2010, while Brisbane hasn’t captured a title since winning the last of three straight in 2003.

The Magpies finished with the best record during the regular season but will now have to prove it was the best team in the finals. Brisbane is eager to be back on the big stage again and have a chance to win.

Collingwood and Brisbane will also have an intense matchup. Let’s take a look at the upcoming AFL Grand Final matchup with the top AFL Premiership lines offered by MyBookie.

Grand Final of the AFL season

Collingwood is Favored to Win Crown

The Magpies are 5.5-point favorites to bring home their 16th flag and first in over a decade. Collingwood is -140 on the moneyline, while Brisbane is +105. The over/under has been set at 161.5 points.

The Lions have defeated the Magpies twice this season. Brisbane won 124-100 in Round 23 and 116-83 in Round 4. Way in the past, Brisbane was able to find success against Collingwood. The Lions beat the Magpies to win the 2002 and 2003 Grand Finals.

Magpies Get some Bad News

Collingwood will be without forward Dan McStay, who injured his knee in the Magpies’ dramatic win over GWS in the preliminary final. Billy Frampton is one of the players who may be called on to replace him.

Collingwood must also decide if it plans to pick mid-forward Tayor Adams for the squad after injuring his hamstring.

Brisbane Rebounds from 1-2 Start to Reach Final

The Lions had a tough start to the season but has since been able to figure things out to become one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. Brisbane has done so by playing smart footy. The Lions are in the top five in scoring and inside 50s in the AFL.

Brisbane has two 50-goal scorers in Joe Daniher (58) and Charlie Cameron (56). Daniher played a big role in the qualification final, kicking a team-high five goals. During the preliminary final against Carlton, Brisbane had several players fill essential roles.

Danieher and Cameron each kicked two goals, but Lincoln McCarthy also added two as well. If the Lions can continue to be balanced in the final, even Collingwood would have trouble stopping the machine.

Collingwood Comes Off an Emotional Win

The Magpies have been a defensive-oriented team for most of the season. It was no surprise to see Collingwood smother GWS at times during their preliminary final. Collingwood is perfectly comfortable playing in a lower-scoring match.

The Magpies have five players on their roster who have kicked 20 or more goals. Brody Mihocek has been their top scorer, kicking 46 goals this season. After seeing their form dip into the postseason, Collingwood appears to have rebounded fully.
