The weekend begins with a punch, as we have Bellator 244 set to go at the Mohegan Sun Casino on Friday night. The main card at this event features 4 fights, with the headliner being a light heavyweight title bout between Ryan Bader and Vadim Nemkov. This will be a return to the weight class for the champion Bader, as he moved up the heavyweight division, but he is now back to defend his crown. If you are looking to tune into this event, you can find it on DAZN and the Paramount Network. It’s certainly worth a look, as there are some very good looking fights on the main card. Let’s take a closer look at those fights, with some predictions to go with it for you to bet on their MMA odds.
Bader vs Nemkov Betting Preview – Bellator 244
John Salter (-300) Vs Andrew Kapel (+240)
The main card begins with a middleweight feature fight with a pair of guys who have some experience under their belts. Salter comes in with a 17-4 career mark, including 8 bouts under the Bellator banner, where he has gone 7-1. He can mix things up and win in a variety of ways, but he seems to be at his best on the mat, with 6 of his last 9 wins coming via submission. Kapel has a 21-9 career record and comes into this one on a 5-fight win streak that dates back to 2017. Both of these guys like to wrestle, so look for most of the action to be on the mat. I give the nod to salter.
Roy Nelson (+585) Vs Valentin Moldavsky (-835)
There comes a time when every fighter needs to call it quits. You can argue that 44-year old Roy Nelson is probably past that point. While he was fun to watch in his prime, he is now on a 4-fight losing skid and beginning to look well past his best. At 9-1, Moldavsky is relatively new to MMA, but he is getting handed better opponents with each passing bout. He will need to be careful not to walk into a haymaker from Nelson in the early going. If he does that, he wins this one quite quickly.
Julia Budd (-805) Vs Jessy Miele (+555)
Over the course of a career that spans a decade or so, Julia Budd has stepped into the octagon with the best of them and has more than handled herself. At 37 years of age, she has very little left to prove, other than to beat anyone they send her way in the featherweight division. This time around, it is Jessy Miele bringing a respectable 9-3 record to the table in hopes of scoring a signature win. I just don’t see the upset happening here and like Budd to get this over with quickly.
Ryan Bader (-140) Vs Vadim Nemkov (+120)
We close the night out with a light heavyweight title bout, with Bader returning to the division for the first time since late 2017. In the time between defending his title and fighting on Friday night, Bader has been fighting at heavyweight, where he has been very good. Nemkov comes into this bout with an 11-2 record and a reputation for standing toe to toe and throwing punches. While Bader prefers to wrestle, he can hang with the best of the boxers, and it is that versatility that will help him defend his title.
