In what is billed to be Manny Pacquiao’s last professional fight, the Philippine boxer and national icon will take on Timothy Bradley III on April 9th at the MGM Grand Arena for a chance to win the WBO International Welterweight title. This will be the third bout between the two fighters after their first two clashes saw Pacquiao and Bradley share one win apiece. Who will this trilogy? Why Bet on Manny Pacquiao, 57-6-2 (38 KOs)

This fight will be Pacman’s first fight since suffering the painful defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather in May of 2015. Saturday’s fight is therefore an opportunity for Pacquiao to redeem himself as he seeks to ride out into the sunset and a possible political career with a final win. With 38 knockouts to his name, Pacquiao’s biggest strength will obviously be his power punches. As a concern, though, the Filipino has split his last six fights, suggesting that he isn’t the dominant fighter he was in his prime. Even so, he comes into this fight fully recovered from the rotator cuff injury that seemingly inhibited his efficiency against Mayweather last year. With full health, and the wide array of fighting skills he possesses (including quickness and ability to absorb punches without going down), Pacquiao should be able to close the curtains on his 25-year boxing career with another win over Bradley, whom he already beat in 2014.

Why Bet on Timothy Bradley III, 33-1-1 (13 KOs)

Bradley, a Palm Springs (California) native, isn’t a big-name fighter, but that doesn’t change the fact that he has been one of the top grind-down fighters in the US for the better part of the last decade. After controversially beating Pacquiao in 2012, a fight many claimed he should have lost, his career has been up-and-down, though his record is way better than Pacquiao’s, having won six of his last eight fights. Most recently in November 2015, he posted a 9th-round KO over Brandon Rios. His bout against Rios was particularly commendable, as he looked very energetic and had an overall increased crispness, something you wouldn’t typically expect from a 32-year-old fighter. So, although he lacks solid punching power (only has 13 KOs to his name), you can be sure that Bradley won’t be wish-away underdog in this game, especially if he can tap into the agility that he we saw against Rios.

Fight Predictions

Despite being a younger fighter and possessing reach advantage, Bradley will find it difficult to contain Pacman’s blitzing pace and power jabs. And with all to fight for in his potential swansong encounter, Pacquiao should be able to emerge victorious here. Pick: Pacquiao (-230).
