We believe Floyd’s 2007 split-decision victory over Oscar De La Hoya is one of his most important and impressive victories. De La Hoya had just beaten Ricardo Mayorga for the WBC Light Middleweight title. Up until beating De La Hoya, Floyd had fought and beaten some great fighters. But Oscar was a living legend who had just won a belt. So even though Floyd had fought more impressively before facing De La Hoya, the victory put Money on the map.

Mayweather Jr. takes down Juan Manuel Marquez after a 2 year layoff

Like what Floyd would do to Marquez less than a year later, Pretty Boy dominated Hatton. Ricky didn’t have the skills to stick with Floyd. Mayweather Jr. landed a devastating short left as Hatton, like he always did, moved straight forward. The punch ended Ricky’s night, and, for the most part, his career.

Money beats the next great champion

We shouldn’t look past Floyd’s victory over Canelo Alvarez. The fight happened in 2013 and no matter what anyone believes, Floyd didn’t just kick back and let Canelo punch himself out.

In the fifth round, Mayweather landed a great right after doing something that few boxers, maybe none, in the history of the sport can do. Floyd threw a jab and then switched positions on the jab in mid-throw. That forced Canelo’s head to the position where Mayweather could land the right.

Floyd takes down undefeated Diego Corrales

Make no mistake, Floyd dominated Diego Corrales in their 2001 fight. Money knocked Chico down 5 times. Heading into the match, though, many questioned whether Mayweather could get past the taller, bigger, and more powerful Corrales.
