The Pac-12 is a football conference that always has a team running at the top for a chance at a national title. Stanford (+260)

Coming off a 12-2 season and a Rose Bowl appearance, the Cardinal certainly are the team to beat coming into the new season. Stanford will have the best running back in the game, which should give them a nice advantage. The Cardinal have always produced quality quarterback’s, so no fear there. How good can the defense be for Stanford? That’s the biggest question. The Cardinal have a favorable odds at 28/1 to win the national title. If the Cardinal are truly the best team in the Pac-12, they have a pretty good shot. Kansas State and a trip to Notre Dame are the games that may get in the way.

USC (+400)

The Trojans are the second listed team when according to odds to win the Pac 12 title. We will find out right away if USC is for real in the conference standings or not. The Trojans take on the top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 1, and then go to Stanford for a Week 3 tilt. Even at 1-1, if the Trojans can get through that, they have a favorable October to get them to their brutal November when games at Washington and UCLA, and home games against Oregon and Notre Dame. The Trojans have a tough, tough schedule. The 80/1 odds seem like way too much of a long shot to bet them to win the national title.

Oregon (+500)

The Ducks are always around to make a run at the national title. At +500, the Ducks are a great bet to win the Pac-12 though. The Ducks have a trip to Nebraska in middle of September, but if they get by that one, look at a possible 8-0, with a trip to USC upcoming. The Ducks are listed at 50/1 to win the national title. While the Ducks will have to figure out how to play some defense, this is a pretty good long term bet. Oregon is a program that knows how to get it done, so it’s worth a risk to take them.

Washington (+700)

Defensive back Byron Murphy makes this team a legitimate threat. The Huskies have scored before, but can they play enough defense. The Huskies do not face a threat on their schedule until Pac-12 season starts. A trip to Arizona and a home game with Stanford put them in position to make the month of September really count.
