5 College Football Betting Predictions for Ohio State Buckeyes

Written by on August 1, 2017

After getting into the College Football Playoff last season (they shouldn’t have) despite losing to Big Ten champion Penn State in the regular season, J.T. Barrett and the Ohio State Buckeyes are expecting to contend for the Big Ten title and another berth in the four-team playoff in 2017. If you really want to know what to expect out of the Buckeyes this coming season, I’ve got 5 bold betting predictions on Urban Meyer’s squad in 2017 that you’re going to absolutely love. Now, let’s get down to business and check on the latest NCAAF betting odds here.

5 College Football Betting Predictions for Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State Buckeyes (11-2 SU, 6-7 ATS, 6-7 O/U)

Ohio State 10.5 Wins The Buckeyes won 11 games last season, but I think 10 will be the magic number in 2017 as Ohio State suffers a home loss against a Penn State squad that is absolutely loaded and looking for revenge in Week 9. I’ve also got Ohio State falling on the road at Michigan in their regular season finale. I really like gifted dual-threat signal-caller J.T. Barrett, but he’s going to need some help from his skill position players in order to get the Buckeyes into the Big Ten title game and back into position to earn a berth in the four-team playoff. Let me also say that Barrett and company could fall in Week 2 at home against Baker Mayfield and the explosive Oklahoma Sooners to give them three regular season losses. Pick: Under 10.5 Wins

ATS

The Buckeyes finished with an uninspiring 6-7 ATS record a year ago and I just don’t see them improving on that mark very much in 2017 as they’ll like face some long odds as favorites, particularly against teams like Indiana, Nebraska, Penn State  and both, Michigan and Michigan State. Right now, I’m thinking six ATS wins sounds just about perfect! Pick: Six ATS Wins

Over and Under

Just like 2016, I’m expecting Urban Meyer’s defensive genius to produce more Under outcomes than overs. I’m going Under the total in Week 1 against Indiana and then more under outcomes against Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan State, Illinois and in their regular season finale against Michigan. Pick: Six Under Totals

Home and Away

The Buckeyes went 4-3 ATS at home last season and 2-4 ATS on the road and you can expect a nearly identical ATS outcome in 2017, seeing as how they play seven home games and five games on the road. How about an identical three ATS wins at home and on the road.

No More that Two

The Buckeyes never managed to cover the spread in more than two straight games last season and you should expect more of the same in 2017. Remember, you heard it here first. If Ohio State covers the college football betting line in two straight this coming campaign, bet against them to fail to cover in the next game. If you’re thinking about betting on the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the Big ten title this coming season, don’t do it!

No Big Ten Title in 2017

If you’re thinking about betting on the Buckeyes to win the Big ten title this coming season, don’t do it! The Penn State Nittany Lions have more talent on the offensive side of the ball and two legitimate Heisman Trophy candidates to Ohio State’s one (J.T. Barrett).
