Why Bet on Clemson

The Clemson Tigers improved to 5-0 (2-0 ACC) after delivering a master-class performance in a 42-36 win over then-No.3-now-No.7 Louisville on Saturday night at the Death Valley. Deshaun Watson was far from fluent, as he was intercepted three times, but he still came through with five TDs, so Clemson should worry about surviving the test against BC’s stellar defense in the eventual run of things. Meanwhile, Clemson’s equally stingy scoring defense (16.00 PPG allowed) should be able to take care of things at the back against Boston’s iffy offense that is scoring just 23.40 PPG this season. Clemson players must, nonetheless, avoid the letdown effect that is often typical of teams after big wins.

Why Bet on Boston College

Transitioning into the ACC has proved far much difficult than anticipated for the Eagles, who went 0-8 in the ACC last year and have started the 2016 ACC campaign on a 0-2 slate, following losses to Georgia Tech (17-14) in Ireland and a 49-0 thrashing at Virginia Tech over the past two weeks. The youthful Eagles (3-2, 0-2 ACC) are, however, loaded with some up-and-coming talent. Quarterback Patrick Towles (806 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions) has been the leader in the offense, though the Eagles have been a more run-heavy unit relying on its tailbacks for most production. This offense is supported by a very good defense that tops the country in total defense (allowing just 202 yards per game) and ranks sixth-best in the nation in defending the run, holding opponents to 78 yards per game. With the possibility of Clemson having a letdown performance after winning big vs. Louisville last week or probably playing tamely with a look-ahead to next week’s game against Clemson game against Florida State, BC could be due for an ATS cover, if not an unlikely upset this Friday night.

Expert NCAAF Betting Picks and Predictions

Boston College’s defense will make Clemson work a bit, but after receiving 42-0 drubbing at the hands of Virginia Tech, it would be risky to trust the Eagles against the Tigers who are a much-better team than the Hokies. So, even with the letdown and look-ahead factors being considered, we feel that Clemson’s depth and talent will help the Tigers to a dominant victory.

Final Predicted Score: Clemson 35, Boston College 16

Writer’s Pick: Clemson (-17)
