Boston At Cleveland College Football ALDS Game 2 Free Picks

Coming off a shock loss over the Cleveland Indians in Game 1 of the American League Division Series, the Boston Red Sox will be hell-bent on evening out the series with a win when the two teams meet for Game 2 on Friday Night. Getting the ball in this must-win game for Boston is David Price (17-9, 3.99 ERA), and the Indians will have veteran Corey Kluber (18-9, 3.14 ERA) on the opposite side to oppose him. Why Boston Will Win

In his first year in Boston Red Sox, Price had a rough start, posting an 8-6 record with a 4.64 ERA until July 5, but he cleaned up his act and went 9-3 with a 3.33 ERA over his last 17 appearances, being one of the key starters to help the Red Sox into the postseason. Boston will be hoping that Price’s strong finish to the regular-season can continue into the playoffs, starting this Friday. Historically speaking, Price has played well against Cleveland, and that should encourage his winning chances. More importantly, though, Boston’s can-be-explosive offense must step up with better run support after not doing much to help Rick Porcello’s chances on Thursday.

Why Cleveland Will Win

After drawing first blood on Thursday, the Indians–8-2 in their last 10 home games against Boston–will be looking to build further momentum of their World Series hopes with a second win over the Red Sox. Everyone contributed a little bit of something in Cleveland’s win over the Red Sox, but most credit goes to the Indians’ bullpen (Andrew Miller and Cody Allen) who combined strongly to earn a 5-4 Thursday win. With the bullpen playing some big minutes on Thursday, the onus will be on Kluber to go as deep as possible in Friday’s game and give his bullpen a bit of some breathing time. Kluber, a six-year MLB veteran, had the fourth-best ERA in the AL this season and had some of his best performances of the year at Progressive Field, so he should come into this game fully motivated for a strong performance. Of course, Cleveland’s offense will also need to replicate Thursday’s performance–or even do better–given the Red Sox can be a very dangerous to beat when they get their bats cracking hot with hits and homers.

Expert MLB Predictions and Picks

The Indians have owned the Red Sox when playing in Cleveland and Boston finished the season struggling on the road, meaning the Price (who is winless in the postseason) and the Red Sox will have an uphill task this Friday. It would therefore not be a surprise if Cleveland notches a second win over Boston in this game. That being said, the Red Sox have a tendency of upping the ante when they have their backs against the wall, and with a 0-2 hole staring at them, I’d expect them to do anything and everything to come out with the win here. My prediction, therefore, is that Boston will clean up its few pitching mistakes from yesterday and crank up the heat in offense for a season-evening win.
