Alabama

2019 National Championship Odds: 5/2

Good Lord, what just happened? The Crimson Tide had a fine quarterback in two-year starter Jalen Hurts and now they have an ‘instant legend’ that could replace him next season in title game Offensive Player of the Game winner Tua Tagovailoa. The freshman has a big arm and I mean, a big ass arm! More importantly, he’s got crazy poise as he showed in tossing three TD passes in the second half to lead Alabama all the way back from a 13-0 halftime deficit! The Tide will be a defensive powerhouse again next season, which is why they’re favored – again!

Clemson

2019 National Championship Odds: 6/1

Clemson is undoubtedly a perennial national powerhouse and I suspect they could be better than they were next season, but for them to really get where they want to be, they had better start praying that Kelly Bryant becomes a better passer, because right now, he’s certainly no Deshaun Watson – or Tua Tagovailoa for that matter!

Ohio State

2019 National Championship Odds: 8/1

J.T. Barrett and a bunch of other elite starters will be gone and that means the Buckeyes will be playing for a first-time starting quarterback in Dwayne Haskins and that means, they could experience a lot of ups and downs that are generally associated with first-time starting quarterbacks.

Georgia

2019 National Championship Odds: 8/1

Jake Fromm, running back De’Andre Swift and a powerful defense tell me the Bulldogs will be right back in the national championship hunt come next season.

Michigan

2019 National Championship Odds: 10/1

Jim Harbaugh’s 2018 Wolverines will again, be an elite defensive team that is difficult to score against. However, unless he finds a legitimate quarterback, you can expect more of the same mediocrity we saw this season. Why Michigan is a 10/1 favorite right now is beyond me!

Penn State

2019 National Championship Odds: 12/1

The Nittany Lions will be hard-pressed to replace the gifts that superstar running back Saquon Barkley brought to the table, but quarterback Trace McSorley will be a Heisman Trophy contender and James Franklin has a bunch of elite recruits coming in, not to mention he’s built a perennially powerful, defense in Happy Valley.

Oklahoma

2019 National Championship Odds: 18/1

Replacing Baker Mayfield will be difficult, but Kyler Murray is a former five-star recruit that is more of a dual-threat than Mayfield ever was. Still, I’d expect some struggles just because the Sooners have a first-time starter under center.

Kyler Murray and the Sooners are among the College Football Betting favorites to win it all in 2019.

Michigan State

2019 National Championship Odds: 25/1

Quarterback Brian Lewerke will be back and better than he was this season and Mark Dantonio will have another powerful defense that returns the vast majority of this year’s most important contributors like linebacker Joe Bachie and lineman Kenny Willekes.

Texas

2019 National Championship Odds: 25/1

The Longhorns have the coach they wanted in Tom Herman and they’ll almost assuredly be better in Year 2 than they were this season. However, Herman’s penchant for playing musical chairs at quarterback hurt his team this season, so he needs to figure that out and in a hurry during the spring.

Miami

2019 National Championship Odds: 25/1

The Hurricanes have talent on both sides of the ball, but they’ll either need Malik Rosier to take a sizable step forward or for 2017 star recruit N’Kosi Perry to take the bulls by the horn. Make no mistake about it, it’s all about the quarterback position for Miami next season.

Wisconsin

2019 National Championship Odds: 25/1

I have no doubt that Wisconsin will be right back in the mix for a berth in the four-team College Football Playoff, seeing as how 10 starters are back on offense, quarterback Alex Hornibrook should be better than ever and Paul Chryst has built a perennially powerful defense in Wisconsin.

Auburn

2019 National Championship Odds: 25/1

With quarterback Jarrett Stidham set to return for another season, I absolutely love the value that Auburn is offering as a 25/1 pick next season. Lest anyone forget, the Tigers beat both, Georgia and Alabama this past season despite their humbling bowl game loss to UCF to close out their campaign.
